Mechanical Engineer - Experienced
Summary
Based in Ste-Julie, QC and reporting to the Electric Power Projects Manager, the Mechanical Engineer will be working in different engineering field of practices including gas (natural, biogas, landfill gas) systems, cooling and oil system, exhaust and condensate systems.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Understand client requirements and specifications for EP projects.
- Prepare Piping & Insulation specifications as required for projects
- Approving Piping ISOs for fabrication, extraction from 3D modeling
- Review and approve specifications/ requisitions for piping items
- Prepare mechanical scope of work for contractors; either for bought out items or for fabrication sub-contracting
- Prepare &/or provide technical details for purchase requisitions and Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Develop mechanical layouts and approve P&ID designs.
- Review and validate 2D and 3D designs for mechanical systems.
- Collaborate on the design and implementation of piping and mechanical systems for power generation projects.
- Design Calculations and preparation of mechanical data sheets
- Represent mechanical discipline in project design reviews and at manufacturing kick-off meetings
- Support manufacturing/fabrication facilities with technical expertise during project execution
- Support technicians during commissioning
- Support the Project Manager, proposals and project engineering team on all technical requirements for assigned projects; Ensure that the deliverables provided to the project are technically accurate, within scope, and in compliance with quality procedures and project plans
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Cadworx 3D Modelling, Autocad and Inventor
- Experience with 2D and 3D modelling
- Minimum 5 to 7 years relevant experience
- A strong and broad knowledge of engineering
- Experience in the Power Generation sector, including gas treatment and heat transfer systems (an Asset)
- Strong technical skills in equipment selection, pump sizing, and balance of plant components
- Proficiency in P&ID design and layout development
- Experience with GA's and PFDs
- Adept at writing technical reports and scopes of work
- Excellent analytical skills
- Excellent writing and communications skills; able to represent the company in
Client and Supplier meetings - Knowledge of CSA 149.1, CSA 14.6, ASME 31.1, ASME B31.3 codes
