Electrical & Instrumentation Technician

Summary

The purpose of this role is to perform installations on various types of equipment. You will be fully qualified with an industrial background and have the ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical code specifications and blueprints.  You will have a strong focus on safety, cost control and customer satisfaction when performing the duties of the position.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

  • Ensure the Plant is Operating as per OEM recommendations and coordinate all activities with team members
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of all equipment, including inspections, testing, calibrations, troubleshooting, and repairs of electrical systems, instruments, PLCs, analyzers, and GCs, while supporting failure analysis, providing management feedback, and preparing reports and other documentation required as directed
  • Conduct PM, daily checks, calibrations, testing such as Loop testing, megger test, PLC programming and Calibrations of instruments as directed
  • Monitor and log equipment electrical and instrument parameters, ensuring accurate and comprehensive documentation for operational analysis on a daily basis
  • Identify the required spares, tools and manage the stocks through CMMS/SAP
  • Create work orders in SAP and relay the required information to planners to update in CMMS/SAP 
  • Engage in periodic reviews of operational and maintenance procedures, facilitate discussions, and drive improvements
  • Assist in planning and executing daily, monthly, and quarterly checks and frontline maintenance activities, ensuring thorough execution
  • Read and interpret various drawings for electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and process data, including blueprints, schematics, Loop drawings, and P&IDs
  • Support Root cause analysis of routine problems and failures
  • Report any abnormalities observed in the plant to manager/supervisor and ensure that the problem is rectified as directed
  • Actively identify and mitigate unsafe conditions, ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment
  • Comply with all Enerflex HR, Quality, HSE, and all the Company policies, procedures, processes, work instructions and guidelines
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor / Manager

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in the Operation and Maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems within Oil & Gas industry
  • Minimum a technical degree in electrical and instrumentation or equivalent 
  • Hands-on field experience performing industrial engines and compressor overhauls and commissioning and upgrades, in particular on Caterpillar / Waukesha engines and Ariel / Superior / Dresser rand Compressors
  • Strong knowledge of Generators, Engines, flowmeters, breakers, switchgear, Control valves, PLC, Chromatograph, regulators and engine ignition and control systems
  • Good troubleshooting, problem-solving and information analysis skills
  • Good knowledge of CMMS (SAP) and technical reporting
  • Solid understanding of Maintenance Management System (Work orders, Preventive/Corrective/and Predictive Maintenance) methodology
  • Computer proficiency is mandatory. Good working knowledge of the typical Microsoft suite of software is required
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills. Good English command, written and spoken. Arabic is an asset
  • Motivated team player, able to work within a diverse cultural environment without supervision

  • Remote site working conditions, hot and humid climate, long working hours and vibrating platforms
  • Different shift schedules.
  • Available on call.
