Summary
Lead level accountant that applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Ensures compliance with accounting principles, audit transactions, implement control systems, and provide recommendations to improve accounting operations and processes.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
Financial Reporting & Strategic Analysis
- Monitor financial trends and lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS/GAAP, Sox requirements and internal standards.
- Provide insightful financial analysis to support strategic decisions and performance optimization.
Accounting Operations & Controls
- Oversee the general ledger and ensure integrity of accounting records through thorough account reconciliations and variance analyses. Also, support corporate tax planning, regulatory filings, and statutory compliance including SOX accounting.
- Design, implement, continuously improve internal controls and financial procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Ensure accuracy in all contracts, purchase order, and vendor-related financial documentation.
Leadership & Team Management
- Mentor and lead finance team members to achieve departmental goals and high-performance standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and sales teams to align financial practices with business goals while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and ethical financial management.
Audit & Compliance
- Lead the coordination of internal and external audits, ensuring timely preparation of audit schedules and resolution of audit findings.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local and international accounting regulations and ensure full compliance with all statutory and internal policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (Master’s degree or MBA is a plus).
- Minimum of 8–12 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership of accounting functions in a multinational or complex business environment.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, or ICAN) is required.
- Expertise in IFRS, GAAP, and regulatory standards applicable in Nigeria and internationally.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with SAP is highly desirable.
