Area Manager - Assets and Operations

Summary

This position is responsible for managing operations of multiple Branches in a defined area. Manages equipment and material resources in the area to achieve the Business Plan financial goals while delivering the highest quality and safest service to our clients. Functionally, this position assumes overall responsibility for the Field Operations of multiple branches within an area.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

  • Responsible for meeting the company’s financial goals through optimum utilization of personnel, equipment and material resources, and the set-up of proper control systems and sound expense controls to ensure these goals are met. 
  • Champions a quality management culture. 
  • Ensures the organization is optimally suited to identify customer needs and problems, to offer the most appropriate and cost-effective solutions; delivers the best job execution with outstanding service quality. 
  • Fully implements and actively promotes Health, Safety & Environmental standards and policies, as well as any other customer or external agency's regulatory requirements. 
  • Evaluates the safety effectiveness of operations through systematic analysis of near-misses and accidents, to promptly determine their cause and the corrective actions required in terms of personnel awareness/training and/or equipment standards/maintenance. 
  • Promotes a people-oriented culture where employees are valued as individuals as well as for their professional contributions. Practices and encourages the use of the "fair, consistent and explainable" approach to all personnel management issues. 
  • Provides a prominent role model in HS&E; aligns actions with HS&E goals and policies. 
  • Maintains, through Branch Managers and through personal contact, a working knowledge of customers activity plans and market conditions to accurately forecast activity trends and derive from those realistic yet challenging business plans. 
  • Regularly scheduled branch and site visits as required.
  • Regularly attends Contract Compression Quality meetings organized by Branch Managers with customers to ensure our services, products and technical support meet customer requirements. 
  • Ensures that Branch Managers are given the training, resources and support required to perform a safe and high-quality job. 
  • Delegate’s responsibilities and activities as it might be judged necessary to enhance the role of every team member while allowing the Manager to focus on his core responsibilities. 
  • Motivates people to work to the best of their ability as part of the team through open communications, regular meetings, coaching and counseling, attention to their needs, recognition and rewards for their individual contributions and collective accomplishments. 
  • Manages the operations and personnel/customer relations under a strict code of professional behavior and impeccable business ethics aligned with the Enerflex Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Provide coaching to supervisors in applying best practice management techniques.
  • Support Sr. Management led initiatives; and develop and communicate department Critical Success Factors (CSF’s) and strategies 
  • Ensure staff awareness and commitment to achieving company strategies
  • Ensure staff training delivers the required skill sets and competency levels to meet business needs to include technical, interpersonal and software skills
  • Provide effective direction and feedback through performance appraisal system to achieve company, team and individual goals.
  • Manage departmental programs and processes with continuous improvement
  • Other duties assigned by Director, Field Operations Asset Ownership
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred; may be substituted for years of industry experience
  • 10+ years’ experience with high-speed gas compression equipment. 
  • 5+ years management experience in the Natural Gas service industry.  

Required Skills or Tools: 

  • Excellent management skills. 
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to travel between branches up to 75% of the time.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel ad PowerPoint) preferred.

Physical Requirements

Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity. Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion.
