Vessel Supervisor

Summary

The vessel supervisor will perform assigned functions within our fabrication shop and provide day-to-day leadership to 1-3 Leads and direct reports. The Fabrication Supervisor is responsible for equipping and developing their teams to be successful. The supervisor is accountable for their team’s results and performance in completing work orders in accordance with project QC requirements, before the required dates, within the designated duration, and within the planned hours. The position is required to communicate professionally and in a timely manner with their Lead(s), Senior Supervisor, Manager, QC, HR, HSE, Planning, Engineering, Design, Assembly, Warehouse, and other EFX staff as necessary to support the needs of their team and work content. Supervisors are expected to be focused on their team’s individual results in context of the department results, strategically work at maximizing their team’s performance, and maintain the highest quality standards possible. 

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead daily shift kick-off meetings and provide regular performance feedback.
  • Communicate policy updates and ensure team understanding.
  • Deliver constructive feedback on performance, attendance, and quality.
  • Counsel employees on personnel issues in a timely manner.
  • Influence and support process improvements and necessary team training.
  • Participate in developing and implementing efficiency-enhancing initiatives.
  • Review work scope and planned hours for discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with Fabrication Leads to prioritize and execute deliverables on schedule.
  • Recommend optimal work schedules to meet delivery and billable targets.
  • Report schedule deviations to the Planner and Manager.
  • Recommend and assign overtime as approved by the Senior Supervisor.
  • Review resumes, interview, and test candidates.
  • Determine new hire levels and compensation within established ranges.
  • Propose pay or level changes for existing team members based on merit or skill growth.
  • Document employee call-ins, absences, and time changes; coordinate with Production Admin.
  • Approve daily time in Kronos to meet payroll and reporting deadlines.
  • Approve vacation requests while balancing company workload needs.
  • Ensure scanners and related devices remain functional and online.
  • Maintain tool calibration and equipment in the assigned area.
  • Ensure work areas are clean, organized, and equipment is properly shut down after shifts.
  • Lead team participation in Safety and 6S Programs.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Two-year technical diploma/vocational certificate desired
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant industrial experience
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
  • Knowledge of ASME codes a plus
  • Must have knowledge of fabricating pipe spools and/or pressure vessels
  • Must be able to read and interpret and work from engineering drawings
  • Proficient computer knowledge with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and email
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Previous experience leading teams of 10+ people is a plus
  • Demonstrable ability to lead and facilitate instructions to others
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

Physical Requirements

Industrial environment. This role will require a large amount of standing, bending, squatting, lifting and walking on a constant basis.
