Technical Specialist - Process Install

Summary

This position works closely with Manufacturing Engineers in the development of standardized manufacturing processes. Must be able to leverage knowledge of manufacturing processes and understanding of process piping and structural steel installation as needed for the improvement of manufacturing processes, expansion of material management, development of manufacturing specific detail drawings, and creation of standard operating procedures. The Technical Specialist will be involved in developing ENERFLEX’s Manufacturing Standards program. This program will be focused on realizing company goals of reducing cost, setting labor standards, improving efficiencies, reducing cycle times, improving throughput, as well as the development of an effective, highly skilled, and technical workforce. 

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

Assigned Control 

  • Create detailed work plans for Process Install trade using engineering drawings and 3D models.
  • Create work instructions and standardized operating procedures with assistance from ME.
  • Train others on overall Process Install standards and established procedures.
  • Assist in creating trainings, qualification guidelines, and new hire & mentorship programs.

Accountable 

  • Review project models to ensure major equipment, piping layout, structural supports, and P&IDs align and can efficiently be assembled and disassembled. 
  • Ensure all assembly Process Install work is complete, meets EFX quality standards, and is documented prior to disassembly.
  • Ensure excess project materials are correctly restocked or disposed of properly.
  • Improvement of tracking, cost management, and waste reduction of excess project material

Influence 

  • Subject matter expert for process install; supports assembly supervisors on technical questions and issues.
  • Tracking and Informing assembly supervisors of process install related deficiencies.
  • Identifying new tools, equipment, and methods to support manufacturing improvement. 
  • Promote cross department communication through procedures.
  • Provide feedback to all parties to influence standard operating rhythms.
  • Provide input on Assembly related materials build items and quantities.
  • Provide suggestions on cost saving measures.

Support 

  • Attend periodic Gas Processing and Compression design training and/or lessons learned.
  • Attend assembly trade training meetings to better understand other trades scope of work.
  • Build relationships with individuals across the value stream (Applications, Design, Engineering, Fabrication, Assembly, & Shipping) to improve the product and processes related to Process Install 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of High School Diploma; 2-year degree or professional certificate preferred.
  • Understanding of packaging Process and Gas Compression units
  • Thorough knowledge of trade tools, working methods, and materials part numbers
  • Comprehensive knowledge of reading and interpreting P&ID’s, GA, and fabrication drawings 
  • Minimum 4-years’ experience with process pipe and structural steel installation in the oil and gas industry
  • Experience with field service and commissioning modular gas processing & compression equipment preferred.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement and Problem-Solving methodologies preferred.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Visio, Word, and Excel)
  • Familiar with AutoCAD, Navisworks, and SAP 
  • Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills
  • Flexibility, with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical training experience

Physical Requirements

Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity. Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion.
