Strategic Sourcing Specialist - Process Equipment & Outsource Fabrication

Summary

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for the sourcing of products and services essential for our process equipment procurement team. You'll work closely with Purchasing Agents and Outsource fabrication supervisor and will work under the direct supervision of Procurement Manager – Gas Processing to help with procurement activities and vendor coordination for major equipment like pressure vessels, process towers, heat exchangers, air coolers, pump packages, and filtration products. In addition, the individual will be responsible for all phases of sourcing that require the skills necessary to identify cost saving opportunities, create competitive environments, creatively negotiate, generate contracts to assure seamless availability of all products to support the company objectives.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

Procurement & Sourcing

  • Work with Enerflex applications engineering, product engineering and project teams to develop sourcing strategies for outsourced fabrication of pressure vessels, process towers, heat exchangers, air coolers, pump packages, filtration products
  • Assist with RFQ preparation and management for outsourced fabrication projects
  • Support pricing analysis and vendor selection recommendations for fabrication suppliers
  • Process purchase orders and assist with administrative tasks for outsourced manufacturing equipment
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and approval processes

Supplier & Manufacturing Coordination

  • Assist with maintaining and updating the Approved Vendors List (AVL) for fabrication suppliers
  • Partner with outsource fabrication supervisor to monitor supplier performance against delivery schedules and quality requirements
  • Coordinate equipment deliveries to align with project timelines
  • Provide periodic status updates on equipment purchases to Project Managers and Engineers
  • Assist with resolving material or service discrepancies with suppliers

Analysis & Reporting

  • Create and maintain Excel reports for Actual vs Budget cost analysis for fabrication spending
  • Develop and maintain equipment bid tabs for proposal comparison and vendor selection
  • Develop and update equipment tracking reports to monitor on-time delivery performance
  • Prepare category spend utilization reports to analyze fabrication expenditures by equipment type
  • Generate supplier performance dashboards tracking delivery, quality, and cost metrics
  • Support budget planning and forecasting for outsourced fabrication spend

Purchase Order Management

  • Assist buyers and production teams with proper purchase order closure procedures
  • Coordinate packing slip verification and matching with purchase orders
  • Support receiving team to ensure complete scope of delivery with documentation and discrepancy resolution
  • Assist with invoice matching and accounts payable support for purchase order closure
  • Perform other tasks assigned to support procurement operations

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of purchasing and procurement principles
  • Knowledge of procurement methods and procedures within an ERP system
  • 2-3 years of experience with SAP-MM or similar ERP system
  • Must have a professional attitude and be a team player
  • Good communication, organization, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Proven job diligence, dedication, and attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) applications, with advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to work with various levels of staff and management, while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to successfully communicate with other employees and vendors
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and quality standards for major equipment
  • Experience with purchase order management and receiving processes

Desired Education and Formal Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Engineering or equivalent

Desired Experience:

  • 5 years of applicable procurement experience in the manufacturing sector of an engineered product, preferably with exposure to fabrication
  • Experience supporting outsourced manufacturing relationships
  • Basic understanding of major equipment fabrication processes (pressure vessels, heat exchangers, air coolers, pump packages, process towers)

Physical Requirements

Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity. Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion.
