Senior Supervisor, Post Assembly
Summary
The Senior Supervisor, Post Assembly is responsible for coordinating all activities following the assembly process. This includes leading a team in the oversight of package disassembly, custody of materials transferred into and out of final paint, transfer of materials to shipping department, and disposition of left over project materials. To be successful in this role, an individual must be a self-starter, exhibit strong cross functional leadership skills, strong organizational skills, the ability to coordinate simultaneous projects in various phases of the post assembly process and be detail oriented. Success is measured by ensuring that materials move efficiently through the post assembly process, that the post assembly schedule is adhered to, and that the product is complete and ready to ship on time. To be successful, cross functional coordination and relationships between Assembly Leads and Planners, Paint Coordinators, Shipping Specialists, and Engineering will be critical. This position has direct reports.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
Control
• Monitor daily post-assembly operations, ensuring alignment with company standards.
• Lead cross-functional coordination with Paint, Material Control, Planning and Shipping departments in the transfer and flow of materials.
• Facilitate the Disassembly Kick Off Meeting and provide meeting notes to attendees.
• Facilitate the timely completion of pending assembly work and quality inspection findings after the skid has left the assembly bay.
• Ensure timely and complete delivery of finished goods to the shipping department.
• Facilitate the disposition of left over project materials.
• Review the tear down of units to ensure adherence to the Ship Loose Drawing.
• Train, coach, and evaluate the Shipping Coordinators.
• Enforce safety protocols and compliance standards.
• Participate in hiring and performance review processes.
Accountability
• Ensure all materials move efficiently through the post assembly process and are delivered to shipping on time.
• Ensure pending assembly work and quality inspection findings are completed prior to shipment.
• Provide real-time updates on material status and flow.
• Coordinate directly with department leads to resolve bottlenecks.
• Ensure complete delivery of finished goods to the shipping department.
• Promote 5S principles and team accountability.
• Track key performance metrics for post-assembly operations.
Influence
• Collaborate with Engineering, Planning, Finished Goods Paint, Material Control, and Shipping to optimize flow.
• Recommend adjustments in procedures/processes, workforce needs and resource allocation.
• Provide feedback on recurring material flow or shipping issues to improve future processes.
Required Support
• Assembly, Paint, and Shipping to ensure schedule alignment.
• Engineering for resolution of scope of supply questions, customer specifications and disposition of leftover project materials.
• Material Specialists for timely transfer of custody across departments.
• Planning to manage workload projections and delivery schedules.
Qualifications
• 5-10 years’ experience in industrial packaging, shipping, or manufacturing operations.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and direct reports.
• Familiarity with engineering drawings and shipping documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP is a plus.
• Project management experience is a plus.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Physical Requirements
Fast-paced shop and office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity. Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion.
