Senior Paint Supervisor - Finish Goods
Summary
The Paint Senior Supervisor will oversee the paint application to all projects as directed by the assembly manager and the planning team. He or she will be responsible to enforce all safety protocols, evaluate, and promote employee skill development, approve time, and report on productivity. Ensures assigned deliverables are completed per project schedules or contingency plans. Directly responsible for the paint completion of all the internal projects, within budget, and to a high-quality standard.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
- Oversee daily operations to meet company standards.
- Quickly resolve issues; ensure timely, budget-compliant project completion.
- Train, coach, and evaluate team performance.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and releasing staff.
- Promote quality, safety, and VOC compliance.
- Ensure coatings meet specs; conduct random quality checks.
- Coordinate day/night shift workflow.
- Guide teams on repeat and multi-unit builds.
- Review Assembly kickoff meetings for clarity.
- Approve labor hours promptly.
- Advise Assembly Manager on staffing, skills, and performance.
- Lead by example in 5S practices.
- Provide labor estimate feedback to Manufacturing Engineering.
- Align internal efforts with customer needs.
- Ensure GPS Traveler completion and sign-offs.
- Prioritize deliveries with Material Control, Fabrication, and Paint.
- Enforce safety programs: AWARE Cards, Take5, JSA, JRA.
- Direct Paint Coordinator as needed.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Supervisors, and Planning to optimize resources.
- Recommend staffing changes based on workload and skills.
- Coordinate with Technical Specialists on project timing.
- Share improvement ideas with peers and engineers.
- Support:
- Senior Supervisors: Assist with staging and heavy workloads.
- Safety: Help investigate incidents and mitigate risks.
- Engineering:
- Resolve project issues.
- Provide delivery timelines and clarify deliverables.
- Material Specialists: Manage custody transfers.
- Planning: Maintain accurate schedules.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years’ experience packaging natural gas equipment.
- Supervisory and leadership experience is preferred.
- Must be able to interpret engineering drawings such as P&IDs, General Arrangements, and Electrical drawings.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.
- Basic familiarities with ERP systems, such as SAP Project Systems (PS) and Production Planning (PP)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be dependable, highly motivated, self-directed, have attention to detail, and have great organizational skills with a minimum amount of daily direct supervision
Physical Requirements
Fast-paced general office and industrial environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity.
