Quality Supervisor - Receiving Inspection and Records/Documentation

Summary
The Quality Supervisor monitors, oversees, schedules, and coordinates activities for employees engaged in ASME
Vessel and Piping Receiving Inspection and maintains the required Documentation for acceptance and signoff in
accordance with ASME and National Board requirements.
Oversees, schedules, and coordinates activities for employees engaged in Receiving Inspection and the
coordination of Data Packs for Spooling and Vessels from receipt of materials to the completion of fabrication.
Responsible for transmitting required Documentation to Document Control.
Develops processes and methods to ensure materials, components, and finished products are meeting
requirements, quality standards and customer specifications.
The Quality Supervisor maintains and approves time for Receiving Inspection and Documentation personnel
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
- Reviews and help employees’ progress in meeting their goals.
- Addresses and takes disciplinary actions when needed.
- Coordinates, schedules and leads activities of Receiving Inspectors and QA/QC Administrators, and other resources to meet targets and quality standards through use of the ASME BPVC, ASME B31. Piping Code and Adept Software for Material Test Reports, based on priorities.
- Ensure Vessel /Spool Data Packs are completed and turned into Document control in a timely manne based on priorities using established practices, procedures, to meet contractual obligations, and in compliance with regulatory codes and standards
- Coordinates, schedules and leads activities of Receiving Inspectors, Document Specialist, and other resources to meet targets and quality standards through use of the ASME BPVC, based on priorities.
- Identify and resolve conflicts or concerns related to quality, scope, materials, Documentation and timelines.
- Issuance of National Board R-1 and R-2 forms for repairs, Re-rating and Alterations of ASME Pressure Vessels.
- Development of various documents to support standardization and continuous improvement of all Quality processes.
- Assures the issuance of Fabrication Drawings, Shop Travelers, Manufacturers Data Reports (U1A’s), necessary information required by Code, Customer or PO Requirements.
- Develops metrics to report performance to management and production.
- Establish processes for testing, certification and verification of all welders.
- Acts as the liaison with Customer Inspectors and Contacts concerning inspections and Documentation. Responsible for establishing and maintain communications with Customers as required.
- Active role in investigating and resolving problems related to Quality and Safety.
- Implement corrective actions based on information gathered including statistical data, as available.
- Continuous improvement to maximize product quality and minimize costs.
- Participating on Teams Meetings, as the Quality liaison as required
- Assist in Training of employees as required, ensuring ongoing compliance and staff proficiency.
- Assist with management of critical programs such as calibration, ASME, ISO 9001, etc.
- Ensure products are manufactured in accordance with established practices and procedures, to meet customer/contractual obligations and in compliance with regulatory codes and standards.
- Help with Staff selection/development.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- 2 to 4-year college certificate or degree preferred
- CWI preferred
- ISO 9001 lead auditor preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant industrial experience.
- Must possess excellent communication skills for liaising and communicating with vendors, customers, and internal departments.
- Highly motivated and self‐directed capable of multi‐tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Extremely detail‐oriented and analytical thinker.
- Able to interface directly with cross‐functional teams.
- Able to develop, review, and maintain metrics and quality audits.
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
- A well‐defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
- High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
- Ability to plan, organize, develop
- Experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook etc.)
Physical Requirements
· Fast-paced production environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity.
· Requires wearing PPE (Safety glasses, steel toe shoes, and ear plugs) while in the shop.
· May be exposed to dust and high noise levels
· May be required to work in confined spaces, on ladders, rooftops, and in unfavorable weather conditions
· Manual dexterity required to use inspection tools, desktop computer and peripherals
· Overtime/Weekends as required
· Travel may be required
