Quality Control Inspector - Outsource Fabrication

Summary

This position works closely with Procurement, Enerflex Qualified Vendors, Engineering and Assembly Supervisors to ensure outsourced fabricated equipment meets customer and EFX standards. Must be able to leverage knowledge of fabrication processes for the improvement of processes, and creation of standard operating procedures. Focus will be on Product Quality, Quality Continuous Improvements and Company Goals. This position requires driving personal vehicle in and around the Houston area for inspection at fabrication facilities of outsourced components.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

  • Verify overall outsourced fabricated equipment quality meets customer and EFX standards by performing critical checks prior to, during and after fabrication, including surface preparation and coating.
  • Verify all fabrication and post fabrication work is complete and documented prior to shipment per project specifications, drawings, ITPs, JQRs, etc.
  • Assist in creating work instructions and standardized operating procedures.
  • Inspection of outsourced fabrication, including but not limited to structural skids, pressure vessels, and piping for compliance to all applicable requirements.
  • Assist with vendor qualification process.
  • Vendor development, support and inspections.
  • Timely reporting and communication – Ability to create and maintain an open line of communication with Supply Chain, Quality, Production, Engineering, Customers and Vendors.
  • Understanding of fabricated products, specifications, drawings, design documents, customer specifications and applicable Codes.
  • Coordinate inspections with vendors, clients, and third-party inspectors.
  • Auditing and measuring performance.
  • Developing tools to report performance.
  • Develop Procedures and seek continuous improvement.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned
  • Inspecting equipment at fabricator’s facilities to identify any potential issues or defects.
  • Timely development and delivery of inspection reports.
  • Assessing compliance with relevant standards and specific project requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum of High School Diploma; 2-year degree or professional certificate preferred
  • AWS CWI Preferred
  • NACE level I Preferred
  • Understanding of fabrication Process, structural skids, pressure vessels and piping.
  • Thorough knowledge trade tools, working methods, materials
  • Comprehensive knowledge of reading, interpreting and ability to articulate P&ID’s, GA, fabrication drawings, codes and specifications
  • Minimum 5-years’ experience inspecting skids, pressure vessels and process piping in the oil and gas industry
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement and Problem-Solving methodologies preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Visio, Word, and Excel)
  • Familiar with SAP
  • Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills. Ability to prioritize the work in multi-tasking environment. Must be strong at self-management.
  • Flexibility, with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical training experience
