Quality Control Fabrication Technician II

Summary

Under the direction of the Quality Lead – Fabrication NDE, Testing and Examination, this position will be responsible for completing quality fabrication checker functions when needed as well as capturing NDE report data, using TWI fabrication software, to ensure all NDE is completed for each weldment. This role will communicate with our third part NDE provider to prioritize work and coordinate movement of materials as needed to fulfill requirements. Thorough notes must be kept within the departments daily work in process spreadsheet as well as real-time effective internal communication to provide status updates for other teams. 

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

  • Coordinates with 3rd party NDE vendor to identify priority items.
  • Verification of all required NDE methods have been completed. Must properly flagged and stage for subsequent operations to insure a smooth and timely flow of materials, using Drawings, JQR’s and customer Specifications as required.
  • Pull, review, and scan NDE Reports to verify job completeness. 
  • Timely reporting and communication for rework, repairs, and priority orders.
  • Forwards NDE Reports for Vessels to the QA/QC Coordinator for inclusion in the Job package for the Authorized Inspector.
  • Identifies Priority materials using the WIP List and stages materials as appropriate to assure timely completion.
  • Performs weekly audits/Reviews of NDE Reports and films verifying that all information is correct and that the films match the reports as applicable.
  • Capturing performance data on the fabrication floor daily.
  • Assist in creating QC Fabrication Technician workflow duties for training purposes.
  • Will train other employees on workflow responsibilities.
  • Input data into fabrication software for performance measurements.
  • Perform welder audits.
  • Timely visual and material inspection of piping, & other applicable weldments including ASME Pressure Vessels.
  • Ensure fabrication of various components meets the requirements of Enerflex Quality Management System, procedures, work Instructions, project requirements, and applicable governing codes.
  • Adhering to internal quality programs and ensuring project specifications are met.
  • Understanding of raw materials, fabricated products, specifications, fabrication drawings and applicable Codes. 
  • Work well with production personnel, leadership, and planning team.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external customer representatives, NDE Vendor, and Authorized Inspectors.
  • When necessary, coordinate with 3rd party inspection services, vendors, clients, etc.
  • Performs 6S duties in their personal work area, and between NDE/Hydro at the end of each shift.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Technical degree or certificate from a two-year college is preferred. 
  • AWS/CWI preferred but not required.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in the inspection of vessels and piping.
  • Proficient computer knowledge with Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, Adobe, and Outlook) is required.
  • Ability to read, understand and articulate fabrication drawings, project specifications, applicable codes, weld procedures, schedules and other QA/QC documents is required.
  • Some understanding of ANSI/ASME B31.3 and API 1104.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize the work in multi-tasking environment.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines, follow up on commitments, and action. 
  • Strong ability to solve problems and communicate ideas effectively. 
  • Must be self-motivated. Must be a team player. 

Physical Requirements

Fast-paced shop and general office environments. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity.
