Purchasing Agent Manual Valves
Summary
The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for the purchase of manual valves for the Houston Fabrication facility located in Houston, Texas. He/ She will obtain requirements from engineering and verify the demand is accurate then request quotes from vendors for the optimum cost and delivery. Project demand will then be converted into purchase orders and monitored until goods receipt of materials.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
- Negotiate purchases to ensure lowest cost consistent with Enerflex standards of quality for goods and services required
- Work with outside vendors and service providers on coordination of projects and deliverables
- Procuring and Scheduling of materials to coincide with Production Schedule
- Solicitation of RFQ’s for all purchases
- Analyze proposals, quotations and recommend selection
- Reviews and monitors RFQ and PO documents to ensure conformance to specifications
- Stay up to date on overall market conditions, price trends and lead times
- Maintain knowledge of the local factory representatives and authorized distributors
- Maintain current published price list and discount schedules
- Monitor Supplier performance
- Resolve material discrepancies on shipments from suppliers
- Handle repair or replacement of defective materials
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Assist AP with invoice discrepancies
- Commodity responsibilities will be determined based upon the candidate’s experience level
Qualifications
- Knowledge of purchasing and contract principles
- Knowledge of procurement methods and procedures within a ERP system
- SAP-MM experience 3-5 years
- Must have a professional attitude and be a team player
- Good communication, organization, interpersonal and time management skills
- Proven job diligence, dedication and attention to detail
- Commitment to work overtime on occasion
- Basic proficiency in use of computer (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, etc.)
- Comfort and experience interfacing with various levels of staff and management, while working in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to successfully communicate with the public, other employees and vendors
Desired Education and Formal Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent experience
Desired Experience:
- 3-5 years of applicable procurement experience in the manufacturing sector of an engineered product
Physical Requirements
Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity. Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion.
