Project Manager III

Summary

The role of the Project Manager in the Major Projects & Engineering Services Department is to lead and guide the execution of all engineering, design, procurement, fabrication, field construction (if applicable), and scope changes from project award, to kick-off, through project execution, and to field commissioning of natural gas projects in the United States. 

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead all technical, commercial, contractual, and fabrication activities from initiation through closeout in accordance with Enerflex processes and the Project Execution Plan (PEP), ensuring integration across scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, procurement, and stakeholders.
  • Organize and lead project teams in alignment with company standards while managing multiple projects, including EPC (turnkey) executions.
  • Demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, and adherence to Enerflex core values, applying structured decision-making and escalation protocols.
  • Provide timely project status, risk, and client updates to management through formal reporting and governance forums.
  • Serve as the primary customer interface, managing expectations and maintaining strong relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate customer requirements and scope expectations internally, ensuring alignment with the approved scope baseline.
  • Lead internal and external meetings with documented agendas, actions, and decisions.
  • Travel to project or site locations as required to support customer engagement, issue resolution, scope verification, and commissioning/start-up.
  • Support EPC proposal development, including scope definition, execution strategy, risk identification, and preliminary schedule and cost inputs.
  • Provide technical and execution clarifications during proposal and post-award phases.
  • Validate and oversee project schedules and execution plans aligned with approved project management plans.
  • Monitor performance and forecasting, reporting schedule and cost variance, forecast-to-complete, and corrective actions.
  • Apply schedule tools, critical path analysis, and recovery planning as required.
  • Protect project margins through effective scope, cost, and change control.
  • Monitor and control project costs using Enerflex systems aligned with approved baselines.
  • Apply knowledge of financial objectives, cashflow, and earned value management (EVM).
  • Support change order development, negotiation, and approval.
  • Participate in P&ID reviews, HAZOPs, and design reviews to support scope validation and risk mitigation.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to resolve technical, execution, design, commissioning, and warranty issues.
  • Coordinate and oversee execution activities, including engineering, procurement, expediting, fabrication, logistics, delivery, and commissioning (as applicable).
  • Support negotiations with key suppliers, subcontractors, licensors, and consultants to ensure commercial and contractual alignment.
  • Ensure compliance with specifications, inspection requirements, quality standards, and HSSE regulations.
  • Promote a proactive safety and quality culture across the project team.
  • Maintain and actively manage the Project Risk Management Plan.
  • Communicate risks, mitigation strategies, and change impacts to project teams and management.
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to organizational knowledge throughout the project lifecycle and at closeout.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Project Management Experience.
  • 8+ years of engineering, design, applications or sales, EPC (turnkey) and manufacturing shop floor experience.
  • Success for this role requires a working knowledge of the equipment and process for amine sweetening, glycol dehydration, hydrocarbon recovery, fractionation, and dew point control.
  • Strong self-starter skills and ability to perform successfully with limited supervision.
  • Versatile team building skills and ability to coordinate multifunctional teams.
  • Solid Computer/Software/Program skills.
  • General knowledge of industry codes and safety legislation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work closely in a team environment with all internal / external stakeholders.
  • Fully comfortable in dealing with customers, vendors, manufacturing and management teams in the USA marketplace.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • EPC Project experience along with exposure to fabrication facilities is a must.
  • Entrepreneurial attitude, aptitude for innovation and long-term career interests.
  • BS Degree in Engineering is preferred and a Professional Engineering License is a plus.

Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity. Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion.
