Project Engineer

This person is esponsible for leading the technical execution of projects, ensuring alignment with engineering, operations, and business objectives. This role requires multi-discipline, cross-functional collaboration across various departments and business units across different regions. The Project Engineer acts as the primary technical liaison with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders while working closely with the Project Manager to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and timely solutions.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
In general, the Project Engineer will support all other Engineers in performing all tasks required to support the production of the final product. The Project Engineer will be the main point of contact with the customer and will be responsible for the additional duties listed below.
Multi-discipline Technical Leadership for Supervision of the following Project functions:
• Manage Vendor Data Requirement Schedule (VDRS) by discipline for project documentation completion
• Preparation of discipline specific drawings (Mechanical, Process, Structural, Piping, Vessels, I&E)
• Development of P&ID bill of material on project specific basis
• Equipment selection and sizing
• Ensure adherence to project requirements during the engineering/design, fabrication and assembly processes
• Timely resolution of issues at all stages of the project to maintain project schedule
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication Support and interface other Company Functions
• Engineering/Design: Participate in design reviews, NCR resolution, Production Meetings, and HAZOP/SIL analysis (when required)
• Work closely with the Project Manager to align engineering deliverables with overall project execution strategy.
• Provide technical input on project schedules, scope changes, and risk management.
• Project Management: Coordinate deliverable schedules with project requirements
• Sourcing: Technical interface with buyers and vendors
• Shop floor presence during fabrication, assembly, testing, paint, and shipping.
Other Responsibilities:
• Ensure proper understanding of work-scope and customer needs for all projects
• Report progress/ask questions of the projects at the weekly meetings, as needed over and above each engineer’s comments; maintaining communication across all stakeholders.
• Daily mentoring of each employee for:
o Overall project quality
o Maintaining timelines/deadlines.
o Education of Enerflex expectations and methods.
o Cost effectiveness.
o Fielding technical questions.
• Work with the Engineering Manager to evaluate the projects workload and distribution of tasks.
Secondary Responsibilities:
• Initiate new ideas or methods or ‘looks’ for our designs to make them more cost effective, easier to build, meeting customer’s demands or needs.
• Assist others/other departments with technical attributes associated with our packaging.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree or equivalent background
- Familiarity with reciprocating compressors
- Minimum ten (10) years of experience in Oil & Gas EPC
- Solid IT skills (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Primavera P6)
- Fluency in English with strong communication skills
- Basic knowledge of the fundamentals required by the equipment used in our products:
- Mechanical Design
- Thermodynamics
- Chemistry
- Instrumentation & Controls
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with the ability to navigate cross-functional teams.
- Effective problem-solving and analytical thinking, with the ability to synthesize complex issues into actionable solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a confident and customer-oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative and adaptable approach to problem-solving.
- High level of accountability and ownership for project success.
Physical Requirements
- Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity.
- Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion (<10%).
- May be exposed to confidential information.
- Occasionally required to work non-standard hours including evenings and weekends.
