Project Engineer - Screw Compression & Refrigeration

Summary

The Project Engineer, Screw Compression & Refrigeration (SCR) shall develop, detail and finalize the technical project design, including overseeing most project manager related activities; in accordance with the turn-in data developed by the Enerflex Applications Group and with the assistance of other Engineering Groups. This information shall be presented in the form of detailed project specific; process flow diagrams, process & instrumentation diagrams, general arrangement drawings, structural drawings, electrical drawings, data sheets, bills of materials, process & control narratives and installation, operation & maintenance reference literature. This work along with any other required data must be accomplished while complying with the company standards, the project proposal and the customers’ specifications or input.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

In general, the Project Engineer will work with all other departments (process, controls, design, vessels, procurement, sales / applications and manufacturing) in performing all tasks required to support the production of the final product.  In addition, the Project Engineer will manage the project by coordinating all logistical details with the customer and all other departments within Enerflex. The Project Engineer will be accountable for all aspects of project execution for the SCR product line listed below.

 

Interface with the Enerflex Applications Team, the Enerflex Engineering Team and our Customers

  • Post project award, liaise with the Enerflex Applications Team to hand over all data used for estimating and understand the background and particulars associated with the project
  • Identify the customer’s requirements (technical/products problems, execution issues) and bring effective solutions
  • Clarify technical issues with the customer (technical clarification, answer technical comments, deviation requests) and achieve a resolution
  • Attend certain internal and external meetings (kick off, coordination, HAZOP etc.)

Lead internal design activities and technical decisions to support the project

  • Develop the project P&ID’s and requisition all major equipment and coordinate all other deliverables
  • Participate in all aspects of design review with the project team
  • Ensure proper understanding of the Customer’s technical needs inside Enerflex
  • Generate the engineered Bill of Material for the assigned project items

Lead the Quality Assurance program for the Enerflex designed products

  • Ensure accuracy of job quality requirements
  • Perform P&ID walk down of final package to ensure compliance with design

Own the planning of all engineering activities

  • Manage and schedule drawing list submitted to the customer
  • Follow up on technical issues through shipment and commissioning as needed
  • Manage and control engineering hours allocated to the job
  • Support the correct scheduling and monitor the progress of vendor drawings

Support and interface with other company functions

  • Project Management: Report on engineering issues and progress for all assigned items
  • Design & Drafting: Coordinate and approve all design & drafting deliverables
  • Project Engineering: Technical interface with suppliers to obtain quotations for all assigned items
  • Procurement: Technical interface with buyers to confirm BOM accuracy for all assigned items
  • Manufacturing: Technical interface with shop personnel for all assigned items
  • Quality: Identify all testing specifications and signoff on all testing activities
  • Service: Support activities for all installation, commissioning and startup needs
  • Network and develop relationships with customers to further the Enerflex brand reputation and promise
  • Model and champion Enerflex core values in ways that center team culture on these values.
  • Abide by and promote the Enerflex HSE policy

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 4 years of industry experience in gas compressor packages including rotating and screw compressor packages.
  • Minimum of 4 years working knowledge of API Mechanical codes and standards.
  • Solid IT skills
  • Fluency in English

Physical Requirements

  • Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity.
  • Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion.

  • Occasionally required to work non-standard hours including evenings and weekends.
