Project Engineer - Gas Processing

Summary

The Project Engineer will be responsible for developing, detailing, and finalizing the technical design of the project, while also providing leadership over technical issues beyond the Enerflex project team. The design and associated information will be documented through project-specific materials such as process flow diagrams, P&IDs (Process and Instrumentation Diagrams), general arrangement drawings, structural and electrical drawings, data sheets, bills of materials, control and process narratives, and reference documents for installation, operation, and maintenance. All deliverables must adhere to company standards, the project proposal, and any specifications or input provided by the customer.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

Overall, the Enerflex Project Engineer will take the lead in guiding all supporting Engineering Groups—including process, instrumentation, controls, design & drafting, vessels, and purchasing—to ensure completion of all tasks necessary for delivering the final product. Additionally, the Project Engineer will oversee project management responsibilities by coordinating logistics with the customer and across all relevant Enerflex departments. They will also be accountable for the engineering and procurement activities assigned to them, as detailed in the responsibilities outlined below.

 

Interface with the Enerflex Applications Team, the Enerflex Engineering Team and our Customers

  • After project award, liaison with the Enerflex Applications Team to hand over all data used for estimating and understanding the background and particulars associated with the project.
  • Identify the customer’s requirements (technical/products problems, execution issues) and bring effective solutions.
  • Coordinate technical issues with the customer (technical clarification, answer technical comments, deviation requests) and reach consensus.
  • Attend internal and external meetings (kick off, coordination, HAZOP etc.)

Lead internal design activities and technical decisions to support the project.

  • Develop the project P&ID’s and requisition all major equipment and coordinate all other deliverables.
  • Participate in all aspects of design review with the project team.
  • Ensure proper understanding of the Customer’s technical needs inside Enerflex.
  • Generate the engineered Bill of Material for the assigned project items.
  • Develop the process description narratives and assemble the associated IOM literature.

Own the planning of all engineering activities. 

  • Manage and schedule drawing list submitted to the customer.
  • Follow up on technical issues through shipment and commissioning as needed.
  • Manage, control, and report on engineering hours allocated to the job.
  • Support the correct scheduling and monitor the progress of vendor drawings. 

Support and interface with other company functions.

  • Project Management: Report on engineering issues and progress for all assigned items
  • Design & Drafting: Coordinate and approve all design & drafting deliverables.
  • Project Engineering: Technical interface with suppliers to obtain quotations for all assigned items.
  • Purchasing: Technical interface with buyers to confirm BOM accuracy for all assigned items
  • Manufacturing: Technical interface with shop personnel for all assigned items
  • Quality: Define all testing specifications and activities. Additionally, ensure that all quality requirements are fully integrated into the final product.
  • Service: Support activities for all installation, commissioning, and startup needs

Lead the Quality Assurance program for the Enerflex designed products.

  • Ensure accuracy of job quality requirements
  • Perform P&ID walk down of final package to ensure compliance with all aspects of the design.

Training

  • Enerflex will provide sufficient training for all newly hired Project Engineers to help them understand the processes, systems, and business models we operate under at Enerflex, so that they have an ample technical aptitude to execute their work efficiently. The amount of time devoted to training will depend on a person’s background. But it is expected that a college graduate will require additional training over a person with extended work experience. Enerflex is committed to providing such training. 

Qualifications

  • Engineering or Engineering Technology degree and or an equivalent background
  • Or a minimum of 8 years’ industry related experience. 
  • A basic understanding of the fundamentals related to the equipment used in our products is preferred.
  • Experience with packaging mid-stream systems such as Condensate Stabilizers, Amine units, TEG, Cryo’s, CO2 Capture/ Liquefaction etc.

Physical Requirements

Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity. Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion.
