Project Designer
Summary
An experienced Project Designer with background in the design of skid mounted gas compression and/or processing equipment; ASME coded pressure vessels, structural steel skids, and associated structural steel assemblies
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
- Fully proficient designer that creates mechanical/electrical designs for new product parts, subassemblies, assemblies or systems configurations using AutoCad, CADWorx 3-D piping or manual systems; compiling bills of materials; assisting in the assembly of prototypes.
- Generates complex drawings of gas processing equipment, reciprocating and screw compression packages and related components under the guidance of the Product Line Manager
- Provides creative and innovative input to the Product Line Managers and Standards Manager regarding design of product lines, design processes, and material choices for the purposes of executing continuous improvement initiatives throughout the business.
- Develops efficient and cost-effective design processes and standardized drawings related to specific product lines and applicable custom products.
- Prepares standardized, product specific bills of material for data input into MRP system and consumption by custom engineered project designers.
- Ensures quality of drawings and functionality of equipment; tests and analyzes results; perform various calculations, such as weights of materials, frequently using charts and tables; analyzes the effect of proposed changes for proper fit and/or interference problems; recommending possible solutions or alternate construction; modifies drawings as requested; confers with engineers to resolve issues; adheres to company policies and procedures. Creates pressure vessel, structural skid and pipe spool details; creates 3-Dimensional models; creates fabrication drawings depicting relationship of components and parts; identifies dimensions, angles, curvatures, tolerance, and materials; prepares bills of materials and specifications; creates documentation required and processes engineering change orders; ensures adherence to designated quality and cost parameters.
- Works directly with Product Line Managers, Project Engineers & Designers, supply chain, manufacturing, and outside fabricators to develop products and assist in execution.
- Must comply with all applicable safety and environmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Required:
- Proficient using AutoCAD 2014.
- Requires thorough knowledge of drafting standards, geometric dimensioning, P&ID's, and AutoCAD software.
- Experience with design of pressure vessels, skid mounted packages and structural design.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to prioritize tasks.
- Proficient using 2014 CADWorx Plant. (3-D Modeling)
Special Requirements/Additional Comments
- Must be able to work under pressure
- Overtime as required
Desired:
- Associate’s Degree in ME, Drafting, or related field with three to five years designing and documenting mechanical/electrical equipment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Trained in CADWorx Plant Pro 2014 or newer.
Physical Requirements
Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity. Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion.
