Design areas include balance of plant, Skid Mounted Process Equipment, Reciprocating Compression Skid Packages, ASME coded pressure vessels, structural steel skids, civil, electrical, instrumentation, and associated structural steel assemblies.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

  • Fully proficient in all design disciplines, and able to create the overall facility 3D model, incorporating internal and 3rd party packaged equipment and the entire scope of balance of plant to create a working facility design
  • Create civil design package to include, site prep, grading & drainage plans, plot plans, foundation location plans & details, piling location with coordinates, civil BOM, pipe rack design (modular and stick built), ladder & platform design, misc supports, other associated 2D and 3D drawings
  • Create mechanical and piping design package to include P&IDs, piping plans & sections, piping isometrics, modeling of off-skid equipment, other 2D and 3D modelling
  • Create instrumentation and electrical design package to include cable tray layout, location plans, single line diagram, electrical area classification, installation details, grounding plans, other associated 2D and 3D modelling
  • Integrate mechanical designs for skid mounted Gas Processing equipment/piping, subassemblies, assemblies, or systems configurations into the overall facility design, using AutoCAD, CADWorx 3-D piping or manual systems; compiling bills of materials and has a working knowledge of structural detailing, and ASME vessels
  • Integrate complex drawings of Gas Processing Packages and related components in the overall facility design with minimal supervision from design engineer
  • Supports the department by studying engineering sketches, specifications and supporting documents in order to design, detail, document and verify mechanical/electrical parts, subassemblies, assemblies or systems configurations
  • Prepares initial construction quantities (cu yds concrete, linear ft pipe, welds, steel, etc.) for measurement of installation / construction progress
  • Capable of detailing/dimensioning mechanical fabrication drawings with relevant and accurate information and completing as-built drawings for finished products
  • Performs various calculations such as weights of individual and combined equipment and skid components, frequently using charts and tables
  • Analyzes the effect of proposed changes for proper fit and/or interference problems; recommending possible solutions or alternate construction; modifies drawings as requested; confers with engineers to resolve issues; adheres to company policies and procedures
  • Oversees and checks the design work performed by 3rd party engineering firms
  • Works directly with project engineers, construction team, 3rd party engineering companies, fabrication shop, and outside fabricators to coordinate with project designs
