Project Controls Analyst - Power Generation

Summary

This position is responsible for providing project controls services for EPC projects. Services include but are not limited to preparing cost control procedures, monitoring performance and issuing status reports. This position will provide assistance to the department and project team, including project manager(s), engineers, planner/scheduler(s) and cost estimator(s).

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist Project Management with completion of weekly and monthly reports for presentation to the client and internal management
  • Assist with proposal estimating and analysis, including staffing plans, bid analysis, and cashflow projections
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain project budget, per the WBS/CBS, from as-sold contract, including scope changes and budget transfers
  • Implement and analyze Project Budget in SAP and/or other software
  • Ensure accurate reporting and analysis of project costs and budgets
  • Perform continual cost management, including weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting requirements and analysis of trends, actual vs budget, variance analysis and cost mitigation opportunities to maintain the Forecast at Completion
  • Manage Prime Contract payment milestones, invoicing, and change orders
  • Develop, monitor, maintain and analyze cost schedules for staffing and indirects, subcontracts, equipment and material, engineering, and start-up/commissioning.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain vendor representative and backcharge logs, including forecasts and close-out assistance
  • Assist with collecting, reporting and analyzing project progress.
  • Assist Procurement team with vendor and subcontract management, including milestone development, contract documentation requirements, pricing analysis, invoice approvals and claims mitigation
  • Implement and maintain corporate Risk Management process and tools on all critical projects
  • Facilitate project report development and reviews, including action items and status, of all project risks
  • Assist with claims analysis and mitigation efforts, both to client and to vendors/subcontractors
  • Assist in developing and monitoring annual capital budgets for business unit as it relates to project control
  • Follow established procedures.  Assist in development/improvement of additional processes/procedures.

 

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of work experience working in a Project Controls, Finance, Accounting or Engineering discipline.
  • Flexibility in working with a growth-oriented organization in a team or independently.
  • Highly organized with the ability to perform multiple tasks.
  • Advanced skill in working with MS Excel. Proficient in other MS Office applications.
  • Must be a detail oriented, self-starter and able to work with little supervision while maintaining goals/tasks.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills and able to effectively communicate with staff, management, customers and vendors.

Preferred Qualifications, Education and Experience:

  • Preferred experience in working with SAP and/or other ERP software.
  • Preferred experience in working with Power BI.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or related field from an accredited university.

Physical Requirements

Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity. Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion.
