Product Line Quality Engineer
Summary
The Product Line Quality Engineer (PLQE) is responsible for supporting and enhancing engineering quality practices across multiple product lines. This role collaborates closely with Project Engineers, Designers, Production, Procurement, and Quality Assurance personnel to develop and maintain robust, standardized Job Quality Requirements (JQRs) and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs). The PLQE ensures compliance with customer specifications and industry standards such as ASME, API, and AWS, while also supporting internal engineering standards, documentation, and quality control processes.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
- Support development, review, and maintenance of standard Job Quality Requirements (JQRs) and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) for projects.
- Interpret and apply customer specifications and industry standards (ASME, API, AWS, etc.) to engineering and manufacturing processes thru JQRs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality requirements are integrated into design and production workflows.
- Support the development and maintenance of Engineering/Design Standards and internal work processes.
- Assist in the standardization and application of common piping specifications across product lines.
- Support Project Engineers (PEs) with coordination of client Quality Control (QC) representatives for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and related quality activities.
- Provide support for QC documentation, including review and compilation of final data books.
- Track and follow up on Punch lists and Deficiency Alert Lists (DALs) to ensure timely resolution or communication of open items.
- Support vendor documentation review and ensure compliance with project and quality requirements prior to customer review.
- Assist Engineering with selection of proper weld procedures for project requirements.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Experience with oil & gas, energy, or heavy industrial projects preferred.
Technical Skills:
• Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards (ASME, API, AWS, etc.).
• Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Familiarity with quality management systems and tools (e.g., ISO 9001, Lean Manufacturing, FMEA).
• Experience with welding processes and procedures

Physical Requirements
This position requires approximately 50% of time in a traditional office environment and 50% in shop or industrial settings. Office work involves typical desk and computer use, attending meetings, and document preparation. Shop work requires compliance with site safety rules and may include exposure to loud noise, machinery, and varying environmental conditions.
While in shop environments or during site visits, the employee must wear appropriate PPE including safety toe footwear, hard hat, safety glasses, and ear protection as required. Travel to various locations (local and out-of-town) is expected for vendor visits, FAT support, or client interface, and may involve driving and occasional overnight stays.
