Pipe Cut Supervisor (Operations)
Summary
The Supervisor, Material Control - Fabrication and direct the day-to-day work priorities to a team of Pipe Cutters and Helper/Grinders. He/she is accountable for their team’s performance, specifically the timely and accurate processing of pipe and shell production orders. In this role, the individual will ensure pipe or shell material is verified, cut, cleaned, and delivered to the kit area within the designated duration. This position will require the individual to work cross-functionally with the warehouse team to ensure cuts are prioritized according to committed dates. The Leadman will monitor all work to ensure workers are performing activities according to project requirements, safely, and to the highest quality. The ability to multitask, communicate effectively, high attention to detail, and a continuous improvement in mindset are a must. Individual must be a self-starter and is expected to execute tasks and goals in an effective and efficient manner, maximizing flow and throughput. Expected to lead in a manner that is consistent with and exhibits the company Vision, Values, and adherence to policies and procedures. A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
- Coordinate with the Fabrication Warehouse, Fabrication Planner and QA/QC to ensure that all deliverables are executed per the schedule, priority, and project requirements.
- Verify pipe or shell to ensure correct project number, production order number, SAP material number, material type, schedule (thickness) and Heat Number.
- Ensure pipe or shell are cut to length. For profiler operations, ensure profile program is current and that layout matches the latest vessel revision.
- For all cuts, ensure the latest drawing revision is utilized for quantities and dimensions.
- Ensure the product is free of debris, clean and safe prior to handing the unit over to the next operation.
- Notify QA/QC of any discrepancies with materials; Flag any material issues or concerns.
- Maintaining and leading the 6S program in your area, ensuring cut area and equipment are kept clean, operational, and organized.
- Mentoring and training Pipe Cutters and Helper/Grinders.
- Leading daily safety meetings with Cut Team.
- Promoting safety and safe work practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ensure that department milestones/goals are met and adhered to approved budgets.
- Collaborate with other managers to determine supply needs.
- Supervise, evaluate, and coach subordinates.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED or 2-year technical diploma/vocational certificate desired.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing/fabrication environment.
- Must be able to read and write in English, bilingual in Spanish a plus.
- Must be able to read and interpret all engineering drawings.
- Skill in operating profiler machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools.
- Proficient computer knowledge with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), AutoCAD and profiler programming. Procam a plus.
Physical Requirements
Fast-paced industrial / general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity. While performing duties of the job the employee will be regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, plasma, and profiler arc, grinding debris and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud. This role will require a large amount of standing, bending, squatting, lifting, and walking on a constant basis.
