Painter IV
Summary
In this specialist level role, the painter will have specialized technical knowledge of this function providing in depth knowledge of specific areas of the position. Responsibilities may include evaluating work, training, directing others as needed and performing a variety of projects as assigned.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
- Be capable of performing and training in all aspects of the Paint Department.
- Ability to read paint specifications and understand them and other technical documents such as paint mixing procedures as required by the job of the Industrial Painter.
- Ability to analyze complex issues and recommend changes to standards and practices.
- Selects paint according to company color scheme and specifications.
- Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, and other finishes to heavy equipment using brushes, spray guns, sandblasting equipment, or rollers. May use epoxy, latex, or enamel coatings.
- Mix and match colors of paint, stain, or varnish with oil and thinning and drying additives to obtain desired colors and consistencies.
- Respiratory protection is common and required in many applications.
- Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.
- Will train, lead and direct others.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of direct industry experience required.
- NACE Level 3 Certification desired.
- Forklift operator experience required.
- Has extensive knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field.
- Must have the ability to facilitate instructions to others.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
- Work under minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements
Industrial environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity.
