Paint Supervisor - Day Shift

Summary

In this role, the Paint Shop Supervisor is responsible for safety, environmental accountability quality and productivity of the workspace and personnel designated in Paint Area. 

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

  • Responsible for the team engagement and participation on the following programs. Aware cards, JSA’s, JRA’s, Take5, and safety toolbox meetings.
  • Coaching and development relation issues as they arise in a timely manner.
  • Interviewing, hiring, and schedule training to improve performance and conducting performance evaluation of personnel.
  • Verify that we are in compliance with air quality and VOC regulations and maintaining necessary documentation.
  • Maintain and coordinate and communicate the workflow between shifts. 
  • The day shift supervisor is responsible to hand off project status and provide daily priorities to the night shift supervisor.
  • Verify that the paint systems are applied and verify that the team is producing per Enerflex standards.
  • Ability to have full comprehension of the paint systems of Enerflex paint manufacturers, interpret specifications into definitive work instructions as it applies to goods being painted.
  • Ability to read and comprehend the application of different paint manufacturer’s products.
  • Supervisor is responsible to oversee the inventory of the consumables inventory and the process of which the consumables are given.
  • Ensure that quality inspections are being done, prior to releasing the projects to shipping department.
  • Responsible that all finished products are fully unmasked and cleaned.
  • Provide project status updates to Senior Supervisor regarding assigned daily task progress of walkdown schedule dates, end dates, and material risks, and any other contingency plans. 
  • Direct and coach team members to achieve consistency across single design multi-build projects and similar products.
  • Review Assembly kickoff meeting content to gain understanding of the scope of work, seek clarifications, and provide feedback as applicable.
  • Approve labor hours in a timely manner.
  • Participate in the interview process and vet potential candidates.
  • Provide feedback on employee skill level vs performance to Senior Supervisor to allow for necessary adjustments and balancing amongst the team.
  • Periodically report to Senior Supervisor regarding project paint labor costs such as usage of actual hours vs planned hours, and overtime.
  • Support the Senior Supervisor and the planning team to achieve contingency plans and revised paint target dates to meet customer expectations.
  • Set clear expectations of the Enerflex 5S program.
  • Responsible to make sure the GPS Traveler is fully completed.
  • Coordinate with Material Control, Fabrication, and Paint to prioritize material deliveries to the floor.
  • Enforcement of safety protocols and programs such as AWARE Cards, Take5, JSA, JRA’s and safety topics 
  • Coordinate with the Senior Supervisor to schedule trade meetings.
  • Influence the HSE department of improvement safety equipment.
  • Provide feedback to the Senior Supervisor regarding headcount requirements, resource capabilities and skill levels.
  • Suggest the direct hire of contract employees based on resource demands and skill level, as applicable. 
  • Provide feedback to other Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineers, and other team members regarding potential process improvements.
  • Senior Supervisor to assign levels to employees.
  • Safety – to investigate an incident or to bring awareness of incidents outside of the facility that could potentially impact the team.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years’ experience in industrial coating.
  • Supervisory and leadership experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to interpret engineering drawings such as P&IDs and General Arrangements.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Basic familiarities with ERP systems, such as SAP Project Systems (PS) and Production Planning (PP)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be dependable, highly motivated, self-directed, have attention to detail, and have great organizational skills with a minimum amount of daily direct supervision.
