Manager, Engineering Enablement Systems

Summary

The Manager, Engineering Enablement Systems provides leadership for CAD technologies, engineering design standards, design tool development, designer support coordination, and engineering systems data governance. This position is responsible for ensuring Engineering and Design teams have standardized processes, applications, data structures, training, and support required to execute projects consistently, efficiently, and in alignment with company standards.

This role serves as the functional leader for CAD systems, design methodologies, engineering design standards, and engineering master data governance, including classification data used across EDM, SAP, CADWorx, and custom engineering systems. The role partners with Engineering, Design, Product Development, Manufacturing, Projects, Procurement, Quality, and Information Technology to improve engineering execution, design quality, CAD-to-EDM workflows, material data accuracy, and system integration.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

CAD Technologies, Design Tools, and System Enablement
•    Lead administration, governance, and continuous improvement of CAD and other integrated engineering design applications.
•    Develop roadmaps and implementation plans for CAD technologies, engineering design tools, and supporting engineering systems.
•    Manage software configuration, templates, libraries, symbols, catalogs, specifications, and standardized design environments.
•    Lead evaluation, testing, deployment, and adoption of new CAD technologies and design software solutions.
•    Coordinate CAD upgrades, customizations, integrations, and enhancement projects.
•    Partner with IT and Engineering Systems teams to ensure stability, performance, and supportability of engineering applications integrated with CAD design technologies.
•    Oversee development and maintenance of CAD support documentation, user guides, and training materials.
•    Identify opportunities for automation and productivity improvements within engineering and design workflows.


Engineering Data Governance and Classification Management
•    Maintain engineering classification data, characteristics, property values, material codes, and supporting databases to ensure integrity across EDM, SAP, CADWorx, and custom engineering systems.
•    Serve as the primary liaison between Engineering, Design, Procurement, Manufacturing, and CAD Administration for material master data, BOM, catalog, and specification-related issues.
•    Develop and maintain material data rules, governance policies, controlled value lists, and classification standards.
•    Gather stakeholder feedback and identify opportunities to improve engineering data quality, system usability, and classification maintenance processes.
•    Troubleshoot material, catalog, specification, BOM, and part-numbering issues related to CADWorx, EDM, SAP, and engineering deliverable workflows.
•    Lead continuous improvement activities to review, clean, standardize, and maintain engineering classification and material data.
•    Support Material Administration governance activities and cross-functional data stewardship meetings.


Design Process Improvement and Enablement
•    Lead and support initiatives that improve engineering and design efficiency, quality, and consistency.
•    Develop and implement standardized workflows and best practices supporting engineering execution.
•    Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve engineering productivity.
•    Support digital transformation initiatives impacting engineering and design activities.
•    Support measure of performance metrics related to design quality, efficiency, resource utilization, and adoption of standards.


Stakeholder Engagement and Leadership
•    Work closely with Engineering, Design, Product Development, Manufacturing, Projects, Procurement, Quality, and IT teams.
•    Provide technical leadership and guidance regarding design systems, standards, and methodologies.
•    Participate in engineering governance, standards review, and technology planning activities.
•    Support strategic initiatives led by the Engineering & Design Systems Manager.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

  • Technical Degree or Diploma or equivalent preferred in Engineering, Design, Science, or a related field
  • 10+ years Engineering and Design experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of direct supervisory or lead experience on technical personnel or programs
  • 5+ years of experience in the use, implementation, configuring, testing, administration of CAD systems
  • Technical competency of piping, pressure vessel, structural design concepts

 

Application Experience or Knowledge Preferred:

  • Autodesk Products – AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Navisworks
  • CADWorx Pant and CADWorx PID applications
  • BricSys – BricsCAD
  • ProCAM application for HGG Profiler
  • TWI Welding Coordinator and Qualifier software
  • General SAP knowledge, primarily in PP, PS, MM
