Summary
The Maintenance & Preservation Planner is responsible for planning, coordinating, scheduling, documenting, and monitoring equipment preservation activities for idle, stored, and completed equipment throughout the facility. This position plays a critical role in protecting company assets and ensuring equipment remains in a saleable, operational, and corrosion-free condition during storage periods.
The Maintenance & Preservation Planner will develop and manage preservation programs for large natural gas-powered engines, electric motors, compressors, air coolers, auxiliary equipment, and associated interconnect piping systems installed on production skids. Responsibilities include creating preservation schedules, tracking preservation compliance, developing work packages, coordinating labor and materials, maintaining preservation documentation, and ensuring all activities are performed in accordance with company standards and manufacturer recommendations.
This position works closely with Operations, Production, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Maintenance personnel to ensure equipment preservation activities are properly planned, executed, and documented. The successful candidate must be highly organized, detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously, and comfortable working in both office and field environments.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
Develop, implement, and maintain equipment preservation programs for stored and completed equipment.
Create and manage preservation schedules for natural gas engines, electric motors, compressors, coolers, pumps, and skid-mounted systems.
Plan and coordinate routine preservation activities including equipment rotation, lubrication, desiccant replacement, inspection, cleaning, and protective coating applications.
Develop detailed work packages and job plans for preservation and maintenance activities.
Coordinate preservation labor requirements and schedule work with maintenance technicians and third-party contractors.
Track preservation due dates and ensure compliance with established preservation intervals.
Maintain accurate preservation records, logs, and documentation within company systems.
Conduct routine field inspections to verify preservation activities have been completed correctly and on schedule.
Identify equipment at risk for corrosion, deterioration, contamination, or environmental damage and develop corrective action plans.
Coordinate rust prevention activities including application of corrosion inhibitors, protective wraps, vapor barriers, desiccants, preservation oils, and coatings.
Monitor environmental conditions affecting stored equipment and implement mitigation strategies as required.
Work closely with Engineering and OEMs to ensure preservation procedures align with manufacturer recommendations.
Maintain inventory of preservation materials, consumables, and specialty equipment.
Generate reports and performance metrics related to preservation compliance and equipment readiness.
Support facility preventive maintenance planning and scheduling activities as assigned.
Promote and enforce company safety policies, procedures, and environmental requirements.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability and asset protection.
Qualifications
Maintenance Planning certification or related technical certification. Experience with SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) module.
Background in oil & gas, compression, power generation, manufacturing, or industrial equipment preservation.
Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) concepts and asset management practices.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions (wet and/or humid) and moving mechanical parts. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles if in the shop, warehouse, or yard. The noise level in the shop, warehouse, or yard work environment is sometimes loud
