Intern-Material Operations and Facilities Manufacturing Engineer

Summary

The Enerflex internship offers students a full-time paid opportunity to work in an environment that fosters real-life experiences, explores career options, and applies their education. This internship will be based in Houston, TX. You will have exposure and the opportunity to broaden your skills through impactful work, and mentored relationships, and will gain real-world exposure to different projects on the Enerflex team.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

  • Support Material Operations & Facilities Manager and Manufacturing Engineer with department initiatives and goals
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and present reports on the status of materials, facilities, and related projects to supervisors and team members. 
  • Evaluate opportunities for improvement and new Processes for future implementation.
  • Write, format, edit, and update instructions and procedures to be used by manufacturing.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments and team members to support their material and facility needs. This may include assisting in project planning and execution.
  • Ad hoc tasks: Be prepared to take on additional tasks or projects as needed to support the department's overall goals and objectives.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Support and participate in sustainability efforts, such as recycling programs, energy efficiency projects, or waste reduction initiatives. 
  • Problem Solving: Identify and address issues or challenges related to materials and facilities promptly, seeking solutions and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Build new and update existing Excel-based tools.
  • Assist the Material Operations & Facilities team in daily activities and routine operations.
  • Develop and implement strategies for efficient materials procurement, storage, and utilization.
  • Implement lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to increase efficiency.
  • Provide training and guidance to team members on best practices and safety protocols

Qualifications

  • 2nd year of an Engineering degree complete (in Industrial/ Mechanical or equivalent)
  • Must be a rising Junior or Senior
  • Minimum of a 3.2 GPA
  • Must be dependable, highly motivated, self-directed, attention to detail, and possess great organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with team.
  • Strong verbal and communication skills
  • Strong Aptitude to learn new skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to use AutoCAD software.
  • Ability to complete a long-term internship with Enerflex.
