Instrument Engineer IV

Summary

The Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of instrumentation systems for existing and new projects for our Broken Arrow, OK location. This shall include the specification of industrial instrumentation, including the material to support installation. The engineer will develop instrumentation installation drawings, data sheets and specifications, in full compliance with recognized industry standards, safety standards, and various client specifications. They will also assist in the technical development of assigned project P&IDs and provide support to the procurement team by generating instrument RFQ and PO packages. This work along with any other required data must be accomplished whilst complying with the company standards, the project proposal and the customers’ specifications or input.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

In general, the Enerflex Instrumentation Engineer will work alongside the other engineering groups (process, design & drafting, vessels and purchasing) in performing all tasks required to support the production of the final product.  The Enerflex Project Engineer will be responsible for the items that he/she engineers and procures as outlined in the detailed responsibilities listed below.

  • Interface with the Enerflex Applications Team, Engineering Team and our Customers.
  • Liaison with the Enerflex Applications Team to understand project scope and submit estimating data post project awards.
  • Liaison with the customers to determine requirements, address technical issues deviation requests) and reach consensus.
  • Attend internal and external kick-off and progress meetings.
  • Lead internal design activities and technical decisions.
  • Understand project Industry Standards, Classification Society and Regulatory requirements.
  • Implements instrument detail design on P&ID’s.
  • Develops Instrument specifications. Includes sizing Control Valves and various type of flowmeters.
  • Independently evaluates all the bids received for Instrumentation packages.
  • Performs a technical bid evaluation process, cost estimation, and vendor requirement validation.
  • Prepares and ensures the timely provision of vendor documents and specifications.
  • Independently evaluates the Instrumentation requirement for mechanical bought out packages.
  • Optimizes instrument systems in relation to cost, compliance and process.
  • Contributes to technical bid evaluation process, ensures selected vendors meet technical/engineering and delivery requirements. 
  • Independently develops solutions to technical/engineering and related problems
  • Visit suppliers for testing and troubleshooting. 
  • Lead the efforts on building and populating the Enerflex Instrumentation Database. 
  • Provide technical support to the Project group. 
  • Perform factory acceptance test (FAT) and site acceptance test for Control Systems, Process & Treating skids as well as third-party equipment. 
  • Follow up on technical issues through shipment and commissioning.
  • Manage instrument engineering hours per project. 
  • Support project scheduling, progress monitoring and technical solutions.
  • Report on engineering issues and progress. 
  • Technical interface with suppliers to obtain quotes. 
  • Technical interface with buyers to confirm BOM accuracy.
  • Technical interface with shop personnel. 
  • Identify all testing specifications and complete signoffs.  
  • Support activities for all installation, commissioning, and startup. 

Qualifications

  • Engineering or Engineering Technology degree and or an equivalent background
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in Instrumentation & Control
  • Capable of reviewing project specification, data sheets, drawing and vendor documents.
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Capability of synthesis of complex problems.
  • Customer oriented
  • Capable of preparing calculations/RFQ/Technical Bid analysis
  • Basic knowledge of Mechanical Design. Thermodynamics, Chemistry, and Instrumentation & Controls
  • Experience with packaging condensate Stabilizers, amine units, TEG, Cryo’s, etc.

Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity. Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion.
