Global Strategic Sourcing Manager

Summary

The Global Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for identifying, leading, and executing strategic cost reduction initiatives across the global supply chain.  This role partners with regional Procurement, Manufacturing, Engineering, Logistics, Finance, and key suppliers to deliver sustainable cost savings while maintaining quality, service levels, and operational efficiency.  The ideal candidate combines strong project management capabilities with supply chain expertise, analytical problem-solving skills, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams to achieve measurable financial results.

This position leads strategic sourcing initiatives across assigned Direct and Indirect Material spend categories while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure suppliers deliver quality, cost competitiveness, and operational excellence.

The Global Strategic Sourcing Manager serves as a trusted business partner by leveraging market intelligence and spend analytics while managing tariff strategies, commodity inflation, supplier qualification and set up processes.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead enterprise-wide supply chain cost reduction initiatives from concept through implementation.  Lead sourcing initiatives, including the development and execution of sourcing events; drive selection of suppliers in collaboration with cross functional teams; conduct supplier negotiations and ongoing supplier management.  This includes supplier qualification and system set up.
  • Develop strategic sourcing strategies for operational categories with emphasis on the raw materials for the Oil & Gas and Energy industries including gas engines, electric motors, compressors, air coolers, valves, pressure vessels, lubricant oils, pumps, steel pipe, flanges, fittings, pressure gauges, studs and bolts, transmitters, thermometers, thermowells, cables, turbines, heads and shells, heat exchangers, transmitters, instrumentation, electrical, enclosures, base plates, switch gears, alternators, and more.

 

  • Develop and maintain a consistent list of cost savings opportunities across:
    • Direct Materials
    • Indirect Materials / MRO / PPE / Safety
    • Logistics and Freight
    • Warehousing and Distribution
    • Inventory Management
    • Manufacturing Operations
    • Supplier Negotiations and Outsourcing

 

  • Build project charters, business cases, financial analyses, and implementation plans.
  • Establish project timelines, milestones, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate cross-functional project teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Track, validate, and report realized cost savings in partnership with Finance.
  • Ensure savings initiatives maintain product quality, customer service, and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify opportunities for supplier consolidation, sourcing optimization, contract improvements, and outsourcing. 
  • Analyze spend data and supply chain KPIs to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Promote continuous improvement methodologies including Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen principles (i.e. supplier set up process optimization).
  • Support regional strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier performance improvement programs.
  • Develop standardized tools and best practices for cost savings project management.
  • Monitor and model financial tariff impact for all imported materials.
  • Build an Inflation model capturing all inflation / deflation estimates by category (i.e. engines, compressors, steel parts, etc.).
  • Supplier Compliance management including internal qualification data or customer requests for Tier 2 reporting.
  • Contract Management responsibilities include managing, negotiating, and implementing global supply agreements and regional supply agreements.  This may cover Direct Material, Indirect Material, Logistics, Outsourcing or Buyouts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5–8+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement, operations, strategic sourcing, project management, or continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional cost savings initiatives.
  • Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with SAP ERP system and Power BI reporting.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 25-50% as required.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or Master's degree.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) certifications.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, Oil & Gas, Energy sector, or Power Generation and Data Center industry.

Physical Requirements

Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity. Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion.
