Engineering Technician - Power Generation

Summary

In accordance with the goals and initiatives set forth by the Company and Engineering Department, the Engineer Technician will assist with coordinating and performing the activities related to power generation project engineering efforts.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

Engineer Technician will work under the direction of the Engineering Manager or his/her designate on tasks that include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Review project scope and customer specs ahead of Kickoff. 
  • Create and maintain standard project Document Submittal list (VRDL)
  • Monitor and report on engineering hours and schedule adherence on projects.
  • Review Turn-In and PO for accuracy and costing to identify issues early.
  • Provide initial P&ID markups to Design Team to start model.
  • Complete and submit project pipe specs
  • Assist PEs in execution tasks such as creating Bill of Materials, reviewing drawings, conducting equipment inspections (walkdowns), creating manuals, and producing datasheets.
  • Engineering document control and transmittal management
  • Coordination with project management, supply chain, manufacturing, and quality control.
  • Tracking engineering actions items and deliverables
  • Support and implementation of corrective actions related to non-conformances, equipment shortages and design changes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, preferred and 2 years of relevant industry experience; or
  • 7 years of relevant industry experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Self-motivated
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Foundational understanding of the following engineering principles used in our products: 

    - Mechanical Design

    - Thermodynamics

    - Instrumentation & Controls

     

    • Technical
      • Reading and interpreting P&IDs, GA drawings, and electrical schematics.
      • BOM development and review.
      • Equipment datasheets and vendor documentation review.
      • Understanding of applicable industry codes and standards.

     

    Previous Assignments

    • Natural Gas Engine and Generator experience preferred
    • Exposure to the oil & gas industry would be beneficial

     

    Preferred Experience: 

    • AutoCAD/Plant 3D or similar design tools.
    • ERP systems (SAP, IFS, Oracle, etc.).
    • Document management systems.
    • Packaged power generation equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity.
  • Domestic travel is possible on occasion.
  • May be exposed to confidential information.
  • May be required to work non-standard hours including evenings and weekends.
