Director, Global Tax

Summary

Enerflex is seeking a seasoned and strategic Global Head, Tax who will be a key financial leader and a close partner to the Vice President, Treasury, Tax and Insurance. S/He is responsible for overseeing the Company’s domestic, global, and Canadian tax compliance, provision, and planning activities, including the development and execution of tax strategies in the U.S., Canada, and other international jurisdictions. S/He will ensure all required tax filings and returns are completed accurately and on time, manage the global tax provision process across regions, and lead the development and execution of tax planning strategies in the U.S. and internationally. S/He will work closely with the Company’s operating regions to streamline tax processes, enhance technology solutions, and support the continued growth of the business. The ideal candidate for this position should have significant accountability for technology solutions and process improvements while our tax team and business continue to grow.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide expert guidance and advice on tax strategies, minimizing Enerflex’s tax liability.
• Maintain process to identify changes in the Canada, U.S. and International tax regulations to ensure business operations and tax
department maintain proper tax compliance; monitor the effect of proposed and enacted changes to these laws on foreignearned income; communicate regularly any domestic and international tax developments, issues and risks.
• Support business initiatives by evaluating local tax implications including income tax, indirect tax, permanent establishment risk by 
performing tax research, coordinating with local tax advisors and local business teams.
• Provide direction on tax implications that may arise from global cash repatriation complexities, through collaboration with 
Treasury and local market teams to best optimize financial implications.
• Preparing global transfer pricing documentation. This includes preparing financial data and benchmarking studies through 
collaboration with external advisor, regional business teams and corporate office.
• Assemble the necessary documentation to support annual transfer pricing studies and liaise with external advisors to ensure 
completion of transfer pricing reports.
• Provide ad hoc advisory to business units regarding transfer pricing treatment through application of global policy and 
professional judgment
• Preparation and/or review of U.S. federal and state income tax returns.
• Preparation and/or review of the U.S. federal international forms such as: Forms 5471, 5472, 1118, and 8992 (GILTI).
• Preparation and/or review of U.S. tax provision calculations. 
• Maintain the tax fixed asset system, including tax depreciation calculations/reconciliations.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement with the provision and compliance process, especially with respect 
to utilization of technology. Research, interpret, and follow state, local, and federal tax laws, and regulations.
• Assist with maintaining and leading tax-related internal controls, including assisting with updating internal controls as needed.
• Preparation of responses to tax authorities and provide support with handling tax audits.
• Assist in maintaining tax calendar.
• Prepare and/or review tax account reconciliations.
• Perform tax research, including a comprehensive review of tax issues and completion of written memorandums with 
recommended course of action.
• Stay current on important tax developments to assess impact to the organization.
• Undertake and complete ad-hoc assigned tax projects independently and with limited supervision.
• Ability to identify opportunities to reduce tax liability

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required. A master’s degree is considered advantageous.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
• Minimum 10+ years of related tax experience.
• Must have advanced Excel skills.
• Proficient in the use of OneSource Income Tax.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Self-motivated and willing to roll up your sleeves to get things done.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex concepts to management and non-tax practitioners.
• Strong experience with fixed assets and fixed asset software.
• Knowledge of SAP accounting software is a plus.
• Adapts and multitasks by taking on additional responsibilities as needed.
