Controls Technician

Summary

Provide a wide array of support in multiple areas withing the I&E Control Department. The support will consist of Testing, Fabricating, Housekeeping and Material Coordinator 

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform Control Panel FAT as per internal procedure, create report and address any punch list before releasing to Production department.
  • Inspect Junction Boxes delivered from Panel builders.
  • Follow up and do preliminary inspections -as necessary- on Control Panels with Panel builders.
  • Point of contact for Production department on Control Panels and Junction Box status.
  • Implement hardware / wiring changes on Control Panels after our Skid FAT, as necessary.
  • Maintain and manage the Controls I&E Lab for work being performed.
  • Help to address material discrepancies or missing material with Panel Builder; occasionally delivery of parts may be needed.
  • Assemble Junction Boxes per design drawings.
  • Support the testing crew with Skid FATs in the shop when available from main responsibilities.
  • Contribute with CEs on initial program as needed. 

Qualifications

  • Must have basic knowledge of PLC’s HMI’s in being able to download, understand basic logic.
  • Must have a strong background on understanding the different types of IO signals. (Ex. DI, DO, AI, AO, RTD, TC)
  • Having knowledge about the different communication protocols. (Ex. Ethernet IP, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP) is a plus.
  • Must be able to read and interpret Electrical Schematics
  • Must have electrical experience.
  • Must know how to use a multimeter to read and source different IO signals.
  • Must have basic organization skills for managing timelines.
  • Good Housekeeping is a must.
  • Must be able to Multitask.
  • Must be a team player.

Physical Requirements

  • Fast‐paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity.
  • Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion.
  • May be exposed to confidential information.
  • Occasionally required to work non‐standard hours including evenings and weekends.
