Assistant Paint Supervisor (Night Shift)

Summary

The Paint assistant supervisor is responsible for leading and making decisions on the shift per the Supervisor’s recommendations. Self-motivated with safety-driven and organized approach. Flexible and adaptive worker dedicated to efficient prioritization and multitasking.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

  • Knowledgeable of all areas of the paint department. 
  • Ability to understand paint specifications, and other technical documents related to mixing procedures and paint applications. 
  • Identify and inform the supervisor(s) of any headcount adjustments based upon workload for the given week(s). 
  • Support the Paint Supervisor as needed for regular/periodic meetings regarding assembly operations. 
  • When the Supervisor is on vacation and/or absent, take over the responsibilities of the supervisor.
  • Coordinate with the Paint Supervisor, planning team and management to create contingency plans and revised paint target dates as necessary to meet customer expectations. 
  • Participate and conduct in the daily and monthly safety meetings.
  • Monitor team technical expertise levels to provide feedback and coordinate with the Paint Supervisor to ensure participation in applicable training. 
  • Engage and support of the 5S program. 
  • Responsible to make sure the team is fully engaged in all safety protocols, such as JSA’s and JRA’s.
  • Manage activities with internal functional areas to support internal or external customer changes. 
  • Completion and proper sign-off of the GPS Traveler for each module/project.      
  • Provide feedback to the Paint Supervisor(s) regarding headcount requirements, resource capabilities and skill levels, 
  • Suggest the direct hire of contract employees based on resource demands and skill level, as applicable. 
  • Provide feedback to other Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineers, and other team members regarding potential process improvements.
  • Supervisor to assign levels to employees. 
  • Safety – to investigate an incident or to bring awareness of incidents outside of the facility that could potentially impact the team.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years' relevant industrial paint experience.
  • Leadership experience is preferred. 
  • AMPP/NACE Certification a plus. 
  • Must be able to identify surface preparation and coating systems to be applied. 
  • The ability to read P&IDs is preferred but will offer training. 
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Must be dependable, highly motivated, self-directed, have attention to detail, and have great. 
  • Organizational skills with a minimum amount of daily direct supervision.

Physical Requirements

Industrial environment. This role will require a large amount of standing, bending, squatting, lifting, and walking on a constant basis. May be required to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity
