Aftermarket Service Manager - Power Generation

Summary

The Service Manager will lead all service activities related to Power Generation (PG) equipment from our Houston facility that are installed in the US.  The PG equipment we package is primarily reciprocating engine generator sets from Waukesha, Caterpillar and Jenbacher. Scope of supply may include electrical switchgear, transformers, heat exchangers, absorption chillers, Waste Heat Recovery unit (WHRU) and other balance of plant items.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage all installation, commissioning and warranty activities related to Power generation equipment with a hands-on approach. Travel to customer sites is required.
  • Provide technical support to customers and branch offices for PG equipment in service. Scope may include management of PG specific sub-vendors.
  • Plan, execute and monitor a training program for the relevant branch offices to support PG equipment in service. 
  • Manage the PG long term service agreements sold and support the proposal activities to win the service agreements in close coordination with the sales team and branch offices. 
  • Coordinate the provision of spare parts for the installed PG base with the relevant branch offices.
  • Establish and maintain a relationship with customers and vendors related to PG equipment.
  • Support the testing/teardown of PG equipment in our facility in terms of acceptance checks, test procedures and disassembly of equipment.
  • Consult on the design/layout of packages from a service perspective.
  • Lead and manage special projects focused on PG initiatives as required.
  • Recruit, train and manage a service focused team to deliver on all PG service commitments as the installed base grows.
  • Create and execute a long-term strategy to maximize the service profitability of EFX supplied Gen sets

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 or more years related experience.
  • Experience with Jenbacher, Waukesha or Caterpillar engines preferred.
  • Previous experience leading installation, construction, and commissioning activities at customer’s sites for PG equipment preferred.   
  • Knowledge of generators, switchgear, load sharing or engine controls is desired.
  • Previous Customer facing experience required.
  • Computer proficiency is required.  Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Able to prioritize the work in multi-tasking environment.
  • Able to meet tight deadlines, follow up on commitments, and action wherever appropriate. 
  • Able to solve problems and communicate persuasively. Effective verbal, written and presentation skills. 

Physical Requirements

Fast-paced shop and general office environment with travel to customers sites as needed. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity.
