Jenbacher Field Technician
Summary
The Jenbacher Field Service Technician will perform mechanical and/or electrical service work on Jenbacher Gas Engines that range in power from 0.35 to 4.5 MW and run on either natural gas or a variety of other gases (e.g., biogas, landfill gas). Tasks include but are not limited to commissioning, troubleshooting, periodic maintenance, and overhaul.

This position is a full-time, permanent position, located in Alberta, Canada.

This position will participate in on-call rotation for after-hour calls as required.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform all work in a safe manner and in accordance with the Company HSE policies.
- Execute service on the engines in compliance with the maintenance protocol. For example, checking oil, replacing filters, setting valves, and performing diverse types of measurements.
- Carry out planned service and minor repairs on engines, as required.
- Execute major service on engines with colleagues.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electronic and mechanical engine symptoms.
- Create service reports that include reason for visit, symptoms, actions, hours, results, and follow-up actions, if required.
- Process timesheets, expense reports, health and safety forms, and job reports in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the Service Manager on repair strategies to accurately inform customer quotes.
- Work effectively as part of a team of technicians or independently.
- Mentor apprentices and support other technicians through information sharing and knowledge transfer.
- Maintain and develop positive professional relationships with existing and potential internal and external customers.
- Participate in internal and external training courses as an opportunity for personal and professional development.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ Jenbacher Gas Engine experience.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and willing to obtain an Alberta specific license.
- Have the ability and willingness to drive long distances in compliance with our hours of work policy.
- Possess well-rounded knowledge of engines, generators, controls, and balance of plant equipment would be considered an asset.
- Possess high voltage, non-diesel generator, automation and controls, or PLC controls experience would be considered an asset.
- Ability to use computer technology and SAP experience would be considered an asset.
- Self-motivated team player with strong attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- English language speaking skills
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment health assessment including a drug and alcohol test.
- Ability to provide a clean drivers abstract at time of hire.
