Parts Manager
Summary
The Parts Manager is responsible for overseeing personnel, warehouse operations, and inventory within their assigned area. This includes managing quoting, procurement, logistics, shipping/receiving, delivery, and maintaining appropriate safety stock levels. They ensure inventory accuracy and routinely monitor for obsolescence and/or serviceability. The Parts Manager also ensures internal control policies and procedures are understood, implemented, and maintained. They will support employee training at their location(s) and provide report on results as required.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties
- Responsible for maintaining accurate parts inventories and managing in SAP
- Responsible for requisition, generation, and issue of PO’s to suppliers
- Responsible for logistics coordination
- Oversee personnel training and certifications
- Responsible for accurate inventory costing and supplier pricing for goods and services
- Ensure proper coding and approval authority limits are understood and adhered to
- Maintain constructive vendor and internal client relations
- Manage part RMA’s and warranty claims; track/report parts returned or sent for warranty claim and ensure credits are received
- Conduct scheduled (and occasionally unscheduled) wall-to-wall inventory counts and routine cycle counts as applicable in warehouse(s) and any remote stocking locations
- Ensure parts availability and cost capture for ongoing and upcoming shop and field work
- Assist with procurement and tracking of tools, shop supplies, and materials for warehouse(s) and technicians
- Provide leadership in resolution of issues with cross-functional or business unit impact
- Responsible for establishing performance expectations and relaying business requirements and objectives for Parts Warehouse personnel
- Approve weekly payroll for hourly Parts staff
- Determine short-term and long-term goals and team member roles
- Performance management (reviews, succession, HR) of all Parts Techs
- Manages apprenticeship program and training for Parts Department staff
- Responsible for Fort Nelson Parts Department and personnel, including quarterly visits to the Fort Nelson branch
- Performs customer visits
- Performs site visits as required
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- 5+ years equivalent work experience in related field
- 5+ years management experience in the oil/natural gas industry, inventory control, and/or warehousing
- High School Diploma or GED
- Solid grasp of mathematics
- Demonstrate intermediate to advanced computer skills through effective use of a computer including Microsoft Office applications like Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers, clients, and external contacts by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person
- Must be moderately knowledgeable on current emissions requirements
- Proficiency with shipping and receiving
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Working knowledge of pneumatic and electric starters, electrical systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, lubrication systems, ignition systems and other compression related anatomy
Nice to have:
- Related industry skills
- Experience with Moving Average Price for inventoried parts
- Strong daily computer use
- Transacting in SAP
- Experience with modern engines and compressors used in the natural gas industry
Working Conditions
- Must be able to work under pressure
- Ability to lift, pull, push minimum of 75lbs
- Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl
