Technical Sales Manager
Summary
As a Technical Sales Manager you will play a critical role in driving the growth of our Electric Power business across Canada. In this position, you will work closely with the Business Development team to identify and pursue opportunities in key markets. You will lead early-stage customer interactions helping identify and define customer technical needs with precision. Additionally, you will collaborate with our Application Engineers team to tailor the technical solutions offered during the quotation process, ensuring the highest standards of performance, quality, and customer satisfaction are met.
This position is based out of the Calgary, AB office with some travel required.
Responsibilities and Duties
Customer Engagement & Support
- Collaborate closely with Business Development Managers in customer meetings to present and promote our power generation portfolio and packaging solutions
- Pursue new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, while strengthening and expanding relationships with current clients.
- Provide dedicated, on-the-ground technical support for customers in Canada, ensuring responsiveness to regional requirements and challenges.
- Use your technical knowledge to understand, analyze, and clarify customer requirements and challenges.
- Guide customers in defining their needs accurately to ensure alignment with our solution capabilities.
- Professionally differentiate our solutions from the competition.
- Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to continually enhance the customer experience.
Technical Solution Design Support
- Support Application Engineers by providing in-depth technical insights during the proposal and quotation phases.
- Assist in shaping customized technical solutions (hybrid BESS and microgrid solutions) that meet customer expectations and project requirements.
- Ensure solutions comply with both regional standards and customer-specific needs.
Market & Product Advocacy
- Represent our technical expertise in industry events, workshops, and seminars alongside the sales team.
- Collaborate with internal engineering and product teams to align solution roadmaps with market demands.
- Provide feedback from the field to internal teams for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years experience in technical sales, sales engineering, or customer support roles within the energy, grid, or power equipment sectors.
- Strong technical knowledge of prime movers for power generation systems, grid systems and power stability solutions, hybrid solutions
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborative mindset to work seamlessly with Business Developers and Application Engineers.
- Technical, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize work to meet tight deadlines.
- Self-starter results oriented and able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Proficient with MS Applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
