Refrigeration and Natural Gas Process Plant Technician
Summary
The purpose of the Refrigeration and Natural Gas Process Plant Technician to provide outstanding support and service to our current and future customer base in Edmonton and the surrounding areas. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining and operating a field service truck to handle day-to-day field and shop maintenance services, performing overhaul of natural gas compressors within the oil and gas industry as well as commissioning services for Enerflex supplied natural gas process plants to assure safe, reliable and problem free operation. Principle Responsibilities and Duties
- The primary role will to be to work on medium to large stationary natural gas equipment in refrigeration and process plants: including but not limited to, compressors (reciprocating, screw), pumps, valves, coolers, panels, generator packages and related machinery.
- Assesses operating problems in Industrial and dew point applications and determines solutions, through troubleshooting.
- Perform mechanical inspection using micrometers, pressure gauges, electronic diagnostic equipment and other specialty tools independently.
- On site commissioning activities related to the Enerflex supplied gas processing and compression equipment.
- Travel to customer sites as required to service their units.
- Provide telephone support to customers or on-site field technicians as required.
- Participating in, accepting and adopting the safety principles
- Maintain and develop positive professional relationships with existing and potential customers
- Ability to travel inter-province on short notice for extended stays
- Ability to lead, direct, motivate and supervise team members
- Valid class 5 driver’s license with the ability and willingness to drive long distances
- Possess well rounded knowledge of engine and compressor performance and operations; power generation experience preferred; experience with Waukesha, Jenbacher, MAN, CAT, and Ariel considered an asset
Qualifications
- Self-motivated team player with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment health assessment including a drug and alcohol test.
- Ability to provide a clean drivers abstract at time of hire.
- Valid Journeyman Refrigeration Certificate OR Fourth year Refrigeration apprentice w/ applicable experience.
- Experience in the field of natural gas processing and commissioning.
- Rotary screw knowledge; reciprocating compressor knowledge and experience would be beneficial.
- Experience with Hydrocarbon Dew Point plants, amine plants, and stabilizer packages.
- Experience and understands installation, assembly, commissioning, troubleshooting and repair procedures related to natural gas refrigeration and process systems and equipment.
- Safety training including but not limited to, Fall Arrest and Confined Space. Any other certificates would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
- Basic understanding of instrumented control systems.
- Customer service experience.
- Good analytical, problem-solving skills.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written, giving an ability to communicate professionally with customers, vendors, management and other colleagues.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office application software.
