Pipe Stress Engineer

Summary

Reporting to the Project Engineering Supervisor, the primary role of the Pipe Stress Engineer within Enerflex Engineered Systems is to complete the preliminary and final pipe stress study of gas screw compression packages and gas processing plants. The main focus is on providing quality, accurate, on-time, and on-budget deliverables to both internal and external customers.

 

Duties must be performed consistent with the company Vision, Mission and Values and adherence to company policies and procedures as well as safe work practices.

 

Effective and excellent communication is the key to project success. A large part of the role of Pipe Stress Engineer is to facilitate sound communications, both written and verbal, with all project stakeholders.

 

With a foundation of integrity, the candidate would use commitment and creativity to drive our organization forward. This position is based out of Enerflex’s Calgary South East facility.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform pipe stress analysis using CAESAR II and verify pressure vessel nozzle loads using NozzlePRO.
  • Apply applicable code and standard requirements in preparing PSA study recommendations, and P.Eng.-stamp final reports.
  • Coordinate with external contractors on pipe stress studies, and review their reports and CAESAR II files.
  • Review all equipment nozzle loads and work with vendors to resolve and approve high nozzle loads.
  • Prepare quotes for pipe stress studies based on company standards and review contractor PSA quotations.
  • Review and provide comments on customer specifications.
  • Maintain Enerflex pipe support standards and contribute to the development and standardization of pipe stress best practices, including CAESAR II modeling guidelines and analysis procedures.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for performing pipe stress analysis, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications.
  • At project start, flag any conflicts or contradictions relating to the understanding of the sold scope and obtain resolution.
  • Respond in a timely and appropriate manner to Customer queries.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Registered in Canada as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in pipe stress analysis using CAESAR II.
  • Demonstrate strong working knowledge of ASME B31.3 and familiarity with common API codes for static and rotating equipment, including API 610, 619, 661, 560, etc.
  • Proficient with standard Windows office software,BlueBeam.
  • Knowledge of dynamic analysis is considered an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and solid analytical skills.
  • Highly self-motivated with a desire to continuously advance engineering skills and technical knowledge.
