Forklift and Overhead Crane Operator

Summary

Reporting to the Material Control Supervisor, the purpose of the Forklift and Heavy Lift Operator within Enerflex Ltd. is ensuring the safe and efficient loading and unloading of materials and equipment in the shop and yard at the 4700 Facility. You will be working with the Material Control and Production groups to operate a range of heavy lift equipment (Forklifts, Overhead Cranes) to fufill the day to day requirements of the Production group.These requirements will include loading and unloading Major components while assisting in the receiving process, assist in facilitating Project Shipping activities in the shop and yard, and assisting with equipment and material delivery. A high level of focus on Safety, attention to detail, and communication will be the most important tools for this position in addition to skill with equipment operation.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Operate a large Kalmar forklift as well as overhead crane to assist in Major Equipment Offloads, equipment and material deliveries to Production, and Project Shipping unit load outs.
  • Be aware of equipment capabilities and utilize them to safely perform your required duties.
  • Work with the Project Shipping team to safely and accurately load tagged material on to ship loose trailers as part of Project Shipping load outs.
  • Verify shipments for completeness by piece count and overall weight.
  • Sign off on carrier Bill of Ladings for successful safe offloads and relay paperwork to Receiving group.
  • Participate in loading and unloading of shipments from inbound and outbound carriers as per established procedures.
  • Ensure best practices are executed around yard safety and cleanliness.
  • Maintain yard security standards. Assist with yard mapping and material traceability records.
  • Adhere to established Enerflex safety guidelines and objectives and ensure warehouse housekeeping standards are upheld. This includes participation in the 5S Program and Continuous Improvement Initiative.
  • Develop and sustain a professional and productive relationship with all internal and external customers.
  • Assist with pulling of materials from inventory request for yard materials
  • Comply with all company Health and Safety and Quality regulations and work procedures; identify safety risks.

Qualifications

  • Valid Counter Balanced Lift Truck and Overhead Crane Certification strongly suggested
  • Basic computer skills; working knowledge of Excel (Log books) and tracking tools (Internet, etc.).
  • Previous shipping/receiving work experience would be considered a definite asset.
  • Ability to multi-task, identify priorities, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be self-motivated, well organized and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good interpersonal skills; able to work collaboratively with all branch departments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skill.
  • Good visual comprehension with ability to accurately read and record long part numbers.
  • Must be capable of heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs).
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and available for potential overtime.
