Applications Engineer - Retrofit

Summary

Reporting to Retrofit Applications Engineering Manager, the purpose of the Applications Engineer (Inside Sales / Technical Sales Engineering) includes, but is not limited to, providing sizing, preliminary engineering, estimating, technical support for gas field compression, process and power generation equipment for the Retrofit and Rentals market.

 

With a foundation of integrity, the candidate would use commitment and creativity to drive our organization forward. This position is based out of the Enerflex Southeast Calgary office.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist in evaluation of opportunity risk and reward, and assist in developing strategic proposal strategies
  • Performance and sizing of gas compression equipment; confirm availability of major equipment and critical path components and reliability of suppliers to meet customer’s specifications and required delivery schedule
  • Scope definition, specification review, cost estimation, preparation of detailed, accurate technical and commercial proposals
  • Provide customer support to sales via bid clarification meetings, pre-bid technical meetings, negotiation meetings, etc
  • Understanding of codes and standards in the global markets in which we are active
  • Liaison / coordination with both internal resources (engineering and design groups sales and fabrication plants, etc.) as well as external (i.e. clients, subvendors, etc) to develop relationships and encourage a “team” culture
  • Ensure a smooth and efficient transition of information to Project’s Department upon award
  • Occasional site visits to gather compressor package details required for preparing the quotation
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of quoting tools and procedures in order to improve the process and increase accuracy and success of proposals

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience, gas compression and/or rotating machinery and/or fabrication of process equipment preferred
  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualifications and experience. Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering disciplines would be preferred.
  • Registered with APEGA or eligible to be registered with APEGA
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship building skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and written are required
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem solving capabilities
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work to meet tight deadlines
  • Proficient with MS Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to achieve excellent performance in individual and team environments
