Senior Financial Analyst (Hybrid)

Summary

The position will work under the direction of the Finance Manager. The Accountant will perform all aspects of accounting related to the business including but not limited to cost accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, providing financial support to operations, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate comes from a general accounting background and can hit the ground running and pick up tasks on a day-to-day basis as they relate to the role.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

 

•    Process monthly accounting entries including but not limited to maintaining revenues, expenses, and related balance sheet balance sheet accounts (e.g. WIP, Deferred Revenue etc.)
•    Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineering, and Operational teams to maintain and update accurate information in SAP as required. 
•    Assist with Inventory management, including but not limited to inventory counts, analyzing inventory impairment (aging, slow moving) per company policies, and recording accurate inventory movement.
•    Provide detailed analysis of projects including but not limited to margin analysis, variance analysis, and forecasted changes. 
•    Maintain supporting schedules for various projects and contractual obligations.
•    Process projects and orders in SAP for month end tasks, including but not limited to adjusting entries as required.
•    Perform month end closing activities in SAP, including but not limited to the timely closure of projects in SAP. 
•    Maintain reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts. 
•    Assist in the preparation of periodic financial statements and management reporting.  
•    Compile and communicate various month-end analyses for divisional management.
•    Assist Corporate and Cost Accounting team in any other duties. Other duties may be assigned as needed. 
•    Assist in the preparation of quarterly forecasts and annual budget
•    Assist with internal and external audit requests.
•    Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Previous ERP experience.
  • Experience in an environment that encompasses manufacturing and project accounting is required.
  • Exposure to POC (Percentage of Completion) accounting/revenue recognition.
  • Experience with maintaining projects, sales and orders within SAP from a financial perspective 
  • Minimum six years of relevant work experience or a combination of training, education and relevant work experience that is equivalent. 
  • Experience in oil and gas, and/or construction industry is a plus
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced, multi-task environment.
  • Strong use of MS Office suite, more specifically advanced Excel (pivot tables, dashboard, charts, graphs and simple macros) is desired.  
  • Demonstrates support, commitment & participation in department goals.
  • Work well in a team environment & a team player.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail are critical in this role.
  • Fast and flexible, organized and works well under pressure.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
