Material Control Specialist

Summary

The Material Control Specialist is responsible managing and overseeing the production operations and control of materials in our gas processing and treating facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in material handling, inventory management, and supply chain logistics within a manufacturing or production environment. This role is crucial in assisting the Material Control Supervisor, ensuring the seamless operation of our production processes by maintaining optimal material flow, reducing waste, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist in coordinating the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and supplies required for gas processing and treating operations. Ensure materials are available and allocated efficiently to meet production schedules.
  • Assist with inventory records and stock levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations. Assist with regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Work closely with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and resolve any issues related to material quality or delivery. 
  • Analyze material control processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Develop and enforce procedures for material handling and storage.
  • Ensure all material handling and storage activities comply with safety regulations and company policies. Conduct safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records of material usage, inventory levels, and any issues related to material control. Prepare reports for management review and assist in decision-making processes.
  • Work closely with production, maintenance, and quality control teams to ensure material requirements are met and any issues impacting production are addressed promptly.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or 2-year technical diploma/vocational certificate desired.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant industrial/manufacturing experience. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a warehouse environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. 
  • Proven ability to lead and facilitate instructions to others.
  • Must have knowledge of fabricating pipe spools and fabricating vessels.
  • Must be able to read and interpret all engineering drawings to efficiently perform work. 
  • Proficient computer knowledge with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and Outlook email. 
  • Proficient in SAP, specifically Inventory Management or Warehouse Management. 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Physical Requirements

Fast-paced industrial / general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity. While performing duties of the job the employee will be regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, and moving mechanical parts.  The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud. This role will require a large amount of standing, bending, squatting, lifting and walking on a constant basis.
