Assembler Lead - Electrical
Summary
The Assembler Lead – Electrical is responsible for leading and coordinating a team of assemblers to ensure the efficient and high-quality assembly of electrical systems, components, and equipment used in oil and gas operations. This role combines hands-on assembly work with leadership responsibilities, providing guidance, training, and support to team members to meet production schedules, quality standards, and safety objectives.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
- Follows all HSE guidelines and maintains a safe, clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Capable of completing safety, production, and quality forms.
- Participates in group discussions and team meetings; works collaboratively to improve departmental processes.
- Reviews production schedules and efficiently plans daily work.
- Reads and interprets P&ID drawings, General Arrangements, electrical drawings, blueprints, and National Electric Code requirements.
- Creates layouts for conduit or cable trays using P&IDs and GA drawings.
- Effectively identifies conduit fittings and has experience with rigid conduit.
- Experienced with conduit bending using tools such as a Chicago bender and electric conduit bender; able to perform various bends including 90°, 45°, 30°, and multi-point saddle bends.
- Proficient using a 535 thread machine to cut and thread rigid conduit.
- Able to fabricate cable tray systems from aluminum, stainless steel, fiberglass, and galvanized materials.
- Experienced in wire pulling through conduit and installing cable in trays by hand; able to identify wire sizes from 22 AWG to 2/0 AWG.
- Able to identify and install analog, digital, RTD, Type K, and pneumatic devices from panels to field devices.
- Capable of terminating devices in Murphy, Altronic, Rockwell, and PLC panels.
- Understands and performs pneumatic and hydrostatic pressure testing; able to lead testing procedures.
- Operates hoists, cranes, forklifts, scissor lifts, and other moving/lifting equipment.
- Has general rigging knowledge and can assist with the installation of various major components.
- Able to tack weld, structural weld, and socket weld.
- Uses basic hand and power tools; reads a tape measure and applies basic math skills.
- Experienced with computers and office equipment including typing, using printers, copiers, calendars, and telephones.
- Leads by mentoring and coaching employees, including taking charge in the absence of a supervisor.
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives across the team and processes.
Qualifications
Preferred Education
- High school diploma or 5 years of relevant experience and/or training
- Vocational or technical education a plus
Required Experience & Skills
- 5+ years of related industry experience
- At least 1-2 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a similar setting.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, NEC codes, and industrial safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, ERP systems a plus).
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must meet all OSHA regulations
- Forklift certification required
- Ability to communicate in English
- Have a clean motor vehicle record
Physical Requirements
- Requires employee to stand for at least 90% of the time
- Requires employee to sit for at least 10% of the time
- Requires employee to frequently inspect equipment, climb stairs or ladders and must be able to maintain balance on stairs or ladders without assistance.
- Must be able to communicate and respond to coworkers, vendors, suppliers and emergency cues/alarms, in person and on the telephone, including use of mobile devices
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work from heights above 4ft
- Requires work in outdoor conditions, including all weather conditions & unairconditioned facility
- Requires work on loud environment
- Requires moving and maintaining self constantly in different positions, stoop, kneel, crouch to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
- Must wear all required PPE, including fire-retardant clothing, helmets, face shields, hearing protection, safety goggles, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, gloves, fall protection as applicable.
