Instrumentation Engineer III (Temporary - 6 month contract)
Summary
Preparation, review and approval of design and detail engineering, review of specifications, calculations, contract documents as applicable to projects and proposals. Ensuring deliverables with required engineering details that meet international standards, organization standards and customer standards as applicable. Lead project decisions and discussions in its own discipline.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
- Deliver roles and responsibilities as defined, be responsible for on time, on quality and with safety corporate standards on budget engineering deliverables. Reporting to discipline lead or discipline manager.
- Preparation, review and approval of design and detail engineering, review of specifications, calculations, contract documents as applicable to projects and proposals.
- Ensuring deliverables with required engineering details that meet international standards, organization standards and customer standards as applicable.
- Lead project decisions and discussions in its own discipline, guiding teams.
- Prepare, review and monitor the development of equipment and material specifications and data sheets, instrument index, input & output lists, bill of quantities, block diagrams, cable routing, control room layouts, wiring termination diagrams, loop drawings, installation drawings, hook-up drawings, instrument plot plans, cable tray/trench lay-outs, cable schedules, JB schedules, interconnection schedules etc.
- Prepare, coordinate material requisitions for the procurement of instrument and bulk materials. Ensure vendor drawing review and approval in time so that materials are obtained within scheduled timeframe.
- Prepare technical queries for vendors; conduct technical bid evaluation of vendor offers, review vendor drawings and documents.
- Prepare, review and organize the issuance of engineering drawings and technical documents for inter-discipline checks (IDCs), coordinate with other engineering discipline in the integration of data inputs.
- Participate in HAZOP, SIL, alarm management reviews. Meet client and vendor representatives.
- Preparation of control system architecture, control system specifications, technical bid evaluation and vendor document review of PLC and DCS based control systems.
- Experience in conducting factory acceptance test (FAT), integrated fat (IFAT) and site acceptance test (SAT) for control systems.
- Requires employee to constantly type and use a computer and other office equipment, such as copier, printer, calendar, telephones, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Engineering in Instrumentation/ Electronics & Communication
- 10+ years of experience designing and documenting electrical, electronic equipment.
- Extensive experience in the oil and gas industry in an EPC or engineering consultancy performing instrumentation design for on shore oil and gas projects and consultancy or EPC in oil and gas projects.
- Must have experience in working in a Multi-cultural office on more than one project at a time.
- Smart Plant instrumentation, Instrucalc and other sizing programs.
- Knowledge of international codes like NEC, BS, IEC, API, ANSI, ISO, IEEE etc.
- Experience in working at project sites during construction, pre-commissioning & start-up and commissioning phases.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions
- Clear and concise verbal and written communications
Physical Requirements
Must be able to work under pressure; Occasional business travel to remote and challenging environments
