Quality Control Inspector - Outsource Fabrication

Summary

This position will be responsible to inspect fabricated piping, vessels, and skids and ensure they have met all quality requirements such as company standards, applicable Codes, Engineering and Customer requirements. This position requires driving personal vehicle in and around the Houston area for inspection at fabrication facilities of outsourced components.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

• Inspection of outsourced fabrication, including but not limited to vessels, piping, & structural for compliance to all applicable requirements.
• Vendor Qualification, development, support and inspections.
• Timely reporting and communication – Ability to create and maintain an open line of communication with Supply Chain, Quality, Production, Engineering, and Vendors.
• Understanding of fabricated products, specifications, drawings, design documents, customer specifications and applicable Codes.
• Coordinate inspections with vendors, clients, and third party inspectors.
• Auditing and measuring performance. Developing tools to report performance.
•  Coordination of inspections with 3rd party, customers, vendors, etc.
• Develop Procedures and seek continuous improvement.
• Ability to cover for welding, NDE and Receiving inspectors at Enerflex’s plant as needed.
• Other duties and tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• Technical degree or Certificate from a two year college is preferred.
• AWS/CWI preferred
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the inspection of pressure vessels, skids, and piping.
• Proficient computer knowledge with Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, Adobe and Outlook) is required.
• Ability to read, understand and articulate fabrication drawings, project specifications, applicable codes, schedules and other QA/QC documents is required.
• Strong understanding of ANSI/ASME B31.3, AWS D1.1, ASME sec VIII and IX.
• Ability to prioritize the work in multi-tasking environment. Must be strong at self-management.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines, follows up on commitments, and takes action.
• Strong ability to solve problems and communicate persuasively.
• Effective verbal, written and presentation skills.
• Must be self-motivated.   
• Must be a team player.

Physical Requirements

Fast-paced mix of vendor shop, internal shop, and general office environments. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity. Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion.
